HAND GUARD OR SHIELD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.416,849, dated December 10, 1889.
Application filed March 23, 1889- Serial No. 304,519. (No model.)

The object of my invention is to produce a device adapted to protect the hands of cooks or others when turning meats, stirring vegetables, (be, against danger of burns or scalds. Ibelieve I have accomplished this by the device herein described, which is a cone-shaped funnel constructed of compressed paper, tin, or other suitable material, open at both ends, the opening at the lower end being sufficiently large to permit the handle of a knife or fork to be passed through the same, the upper end being of sufficientsize to admit the hand to grasp the fork or knife, which, when passed through the lower end of the Fig. 2 shows the.

As a new article of manufacture, a hand shield or guard composed of suitable material and being substantially funnel-shaped and having flexible fingers attached to the lower or smaller end thereof, as and for the purpose set forth.
