-IMPROVED METAL-POINTING MACHINE.

Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 4 l,0 l 4, dated Dccemler 22, 1863.

To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, ADAM MOLTZ, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Metal-Pointing Machine 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accom` panying drawings, making a partof this specication.

Figure 1 is an elevation of the pointingmachine; Fig. 2, a plan thereof.. Fig. 3 is an a. This strap is slightly depressed in the center, so that it just clears the top ot' the grinding-wheel. Inside the strap I makeapointed groove, t', to receive the end of the wire to be pointed.

The operation of the machine is as follows, viz: The grinding-wheel is caused to revolve and the end of the Wire to be pointed is introduced into the groovet and gradually turned as it is ground oi' until entirely pointed, the groove t' operating as a back rest to receive and hold the wire, and also to regulate the shape ot' the point, which will obviously correspond to the angle of the groove t'.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The grinding-Wheel h and strap 1J, with the groove t', arranged substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
