Abstract

A plurality of glass sections, typically eight in number, each large enough to hold a full size newspaper page, are obliquely mounted on an axially symmetrical carrier whose axis is vertical. This carrier is mounted on a vertical stand in such wise that the carrier can rotate around the stand on its axis. A box containing a light source and a switch in series therewith is mounted on the stand. By manually rotating the carrier, any one of the glass sections can be brought above the light source and thus illuminated. Above the carrier is disposed a horizontal disk whose center is located above the axis of the stand and which is attached thereto in such wise as to be free to rotate about a vertical axis passing through its center. The disc and carrier arae independently rotatable.

' are obliquely mounted on an axially symmetrical carrier whose axis is vertical. This carrier is mounted on a, vertical stand in such wise that the carrier can rotate around the stand on its axis. A box containing a light source and a switch in series therewith is mounted on the stand. By manually rotating the carrier, any one of the glass sections can be brought above the light source and thus illuminated. Above the carrier is disposed a horizontal disk whose center is located above the axis of the stand and which is attached thereto in such wise as to be free to rotate about a vertical axis passing llhllfllgh its center. The disc and carrier are independently rotatable.
2 Claims, 3 Drawing Figures 1 REVOLVING LIGHTED PAGE MAKEUP FOR.
GRAPHIC'ARTS SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Lighted page makeup tables typically have a capacity of only one or two full size newspaper pages. When more than this number of pages have to be made up, incomplete pages must be removed from the table and then returned to it'when the required components, such as advertisements, pictures or copy become available.
My invention is directed toward eliminating or reducing this removal and replacement of incompletely set up newspaper pages, and facilitating the storage of such components as they become available.
To this end, I mount a plurality of planar glass faces, typically eight in number and each large enough to hold one full sized newspaper page, in an oblique manner upon an axially symmetricalcarrier whose axis is vertical. I mount this carrier upon a vertical cylindrical stand in such wise as to make the axis of the carrier and the longitudinal axis of the stand'coincident, and also in such wise that the carrier will be free to rotate around the stand about its axis. I affix a box containing a light source and a switch in series therewith to the stand in such wise that'the direction of propagation of the light therefrom will be perpendicular to the plane of a glass face, and also in such wise that the box is entirely within the hollow truncated cone formed by the surface of revolution of the glass faces about the'axis of the stand.
Thus, by manually rotating the carrier, I can illuminate anyselected glass face, and simultaneously make up as many incomplete pages as there are glass faces.
To facilitate the storage of make up components as they become available, I dispose a horizontal disk above the carrier in such wise that its center is directly above the longitudinal axis of the stand, and also in such wise that the disc is free to rotate about an axis drawn perpendicular to the plane of the disc and passing through its center.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. 1-3, a vertical shaft is supported by a horizontal base 13. The shaft 10 is hollow..
A second smaller shaft 14 is rotatably disposed in the open top end of shaft 10.
A hollow casing takes the form of a vertical truncated pyramid like member with a flat circular top 20A and a flat regular polygon shaped base 208 interconnected by spaced inclined members 20C to define open inclined generally trapezoidally shaped faces 20D each of which is covered by a transparent glass plate 22.
Casing 20 has upper and lower axially extending tubes 20E and 20F rotatably disposed around the shaft 10 and spaced apart. Collars 40 under these tubes keep them from slipping on shaft 12.
.The casing is free to rotate about shaft. A horizontal disc 24 covers top 20A and using shaft 14 as an axis is free to rotate in shaft 10 independently of the casing.
An inclined lamp 16 is secured by horizontal post 18 to sleeve 12 and is provided with on off switch 30. The
- wiring 32 to supply power extends through the horizonas limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described the invention, what is asserted as new is:
I. A makeup tablecomprising: a vertical shaft; an inclined light source; means supporting said source and secured to the shaft; and
a hollow casing having a flat circular top and rotatably disposed about the shaft and source, said casing having a plurality of inclined lighttransparent faces having the same inclination as the source, each face having an opening covered by a plate of transparent glass, said casing being rotatable to se-' center and rotatably disposed in the hollow shaft.

Claims (2)

1. A makeup table comprising: a vertical shaft; an inclined light source; means supporting said source and secured to the shaft; and a hollow casing having a flat circular top and rotatably disposed about the shaft and source, said casing having a plurality of inclined light transparent faces having the same inclination as the source, each face having an opening covered by a plate of transparent glass, said casing being rotatable to selectively index any of said faces in front of the source whereby light emitted therefrom extends through the indexed face; and a horizontal disc disposed above the top and separately rotatable about an axis aligned with the shaft.
2. The table of claim 1 wherein said shaft is hollow and the disc has a smaller vertical shaft secured to the center and rotatably disposed in the hollow shaft.
