UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
f ADE WITT B. HARVEY, oF TROY, PENNSYLVANIA.
HALTER-TRIMNIING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 374,832, dated December 13, 1887.
Application tiled December 7, 1886. Serial No. 220,937. (No model.)
To aZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, DE WITT B. HARVEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Troy, iu the county of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Stationary W'eb Halters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention'relates to an improved lcorner claspor trimming for web halters.
The invention Will iirst be described and then claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is aside or perspective view of halter, showing clasp put together asin nished halter, the webbing being inclosed by plates A and B and riveted together by rivet C, rivet C passing through plate B, thence through the three thicknesses of folded web at junction of headstall and nosepiece', thence through plate C, and riveted, making an inclosed clasp for web, as plate A, Fig. l', just fits inside the flanges F, Fig.'2, ou plate B.
Fig. 2 is an inside view of plate B, with web as folded inside flanges F to receive plate A, and al1 held in place by rivet C, passing through hole E, as shown in Fig. 3. Loop G, at corner of plate B, Fig. 2, is integral with plate B-not a separate piece, but cast solidwith plate B. Dotted line a: m in Fig. 2 represents an indicated cutting in section, as shown in Fig. 3, (sectional view,) and shows where Fig. 2 is out to give the sectional or edgewise view of clasp and web riveted together, as shown in Fig. 3.
Fig. 3 is a view in section of or edgewise C passing through plate B, thence through the' th ree thicknesses of web as folded at junction of cheek-pieces or headstall and nosepiece, thence through plate A, (inside dat plate,) and riveted, making a very rigid and inclosed clasp for web. D designa-tes one single piece of web, which forms the headstall, cheekpieces, and nose-piece. n
Having fully described my invention. what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
Theherein-described cornerclasp forhalters, thesame consisting of the plate provided with angular externaland internal anges to cover the edges of the halter-webbing and having an integral loop or ring extending diagonally fr'om its outer corner, and a plate designed to fit inside the Iianges, said two plates adapted to be secured together and to the halter-webbing by a rivet passing through the fold in the webbing and through the plates, substantially as described.
DE' WITT B. `HARVEY.
