BIOGRAPHICAL PHOTOGRAPH-CARD.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 370,186, dated September 20, 1887.

Application filed March 12, 1887.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE W. FOUNTAIN, of Cameron, in the county of Clinton and State of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Biographical Photograph Card, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to a biographical attachment for photographs, the object of the invention being to provide a means whereby a short biographical record may be preserved in connection with the photograph of the person mentioned in said record.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming apart of this specification, in which similar figures of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 is aface View ofa photograph constructed in accordance with the terms of my invention. Fig. 2 is a view of the back of the photograph-card, the back-facing sheet being broken away to disclose the construction and arrangement of the recess adapted to receive the biographical card. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional View taken on line a; x of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on line y y of Fig. 1.

In forming and mounting such a biographical photograph-card as the one illustrated in the drawings above referred to I make a blank, 10, that is formed with two side ears or projections, 11, and to which there is connected a finger-tab, 12. At a point near the bottom of the photograph-card,which card may be of any size desired, I form a cross slit or opening, 2, through which that end of the blank 10 to which the finger-tab 12 is attached is passed.

After the blank 10 has been introduced, as

represented in Fig. 2, a back-facing strip, 18, is applied, as probably best shown in Fig. 3.

\Vhen the parts have been arranged as described, a biographical record of the party of whom the photograph is a likeness is written upon the forward face of the blank 10, which blank may be drawn outward to the position in which it is shown in Fig. 1 when it is desired to refer to said biographical record, the blank being normally housed, as represented in Fig. 2.

In the drawings the thickness of the blank 15 and the other parts used to form the recess 20 is exaggerated, in order that the general construction and arrangement of my improved biographical photograph card may be more clearly brought out.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with a photograph-card formed with a recess, 20, and a slot or opening, 2, of a blank, 10, having cars 11 and a finger-tab, 12, substantially as described.
