Aschenbrenner Attorney-Gary, Juettner, Pigott & Cullinan ABSTRACT: An adjustable capacity stand for pivotally mounting a plurality of visible record frames on inclined axes and slidably and adjustably mounted inclined end stop members that will accommodate a varying complement of frames which are normally mounted between said end stop members.
PATENTEDDEB man ADJUSTABLE CAPACITY RECORD HOLDER This invention relates to improvements in visible record equipment of the class comprising a plurality of record panels swingably mounted on an adjustable capacity record stand, one example ofwhich is found in U.S. Pat. No. 2,959,877.
More particularly, the present invention is directed to an adjustable capacity stand for pivotally mounting a plurality of record frames, the stand comprising a base and an upright mounted thereon having an upwardly and rearwardly inclined mounting face portion. Plate means are provided, extending horizontally across and secured to the inclined face portions of said upright portion, adjustably supporting one or a pair of end stop members for limiting swingable movement of the frames mounted on the device. The stop member or members are mounted for movement transversely of or horizontally across the inclined face of said upright portion for adjusting to the number of and limiting swinging movement of record frames mounted on the stand whereby the pivotally mounted frames come to rest at an incline generally defined by the inclines of the stop members with relation to the inclined face of the upright portion of the stand.
More particularly, and as will appear hereinafter, the aforesaid stop or inclined wing members are mounted for sliding movement on the stand and are slidably secured thereto by locking screws carried by a flange extending from said stop members or wings in engagement with horizontally disposed slots in plate means defining the inclined forward face of the upright on said stand.
The objects of the present invention, its details of construction, arrangement of parts and the advantages and economies thereof will become further apparent from a consideration of the following specification and drawings, wherein FIG. 1 is a front elevational view of the adjustable capacity record holder of the present invention.
FIG. 2 is an end elevational view thereof.
FIG, 3 is a fragmentary sectional view on the line 33 of FIG. 1.
Referring to the drawings, the reference numeral indicates a base having an upright frame mounted thereon comprising the vertically extending portion 11, the inclined face member portions 12, the top 13, end walls 14, said upright member being fixedly secured to the base 10.
Extending transversely of the forwardly inclined face members l2, 12 is the upper horizontally extending angle member 15 carrying the bar 16 pressed thereagainst by the spring 17 on the arm 18 extending through the lug 19 of the angle iron 15. Adjacent the bottom of the inclined face portions l2, 12 is another transverse pair of angle iron members 20 and 21. The members 19 and 21 are formed with a series of apertures such as described in the aforesaid U.S. Pat. No. 2,959,877 for receiving the pintles 22, 22 at the top and bottom adjacent the rear edges of the frames 23 whereby the frames are pivotally or swingably mounted on the device of the present invention for visual access to record data mounted thereon as at 24.
Extending transversely and horizontally across the inclined upright face portions l2, 12 are the pair of space plate members 25, 25, each being secured to the face portions l2, l2 and provided at their opposed horizontal edges with the return bent flange portions 26, 26,
These return bent flange portions 26, 26 provide pockets or seats for slidably receiving the arms 27, 27 of angle irons 28, 28 secured to the top and bottom faces respectively of the end stop or wing members 26 whereby the end stop or wing members may be moved in a horizontal direction across the plate members 25, within the U-shaped or open return bent flanges 26, 26. These end stop or wing members 29 may be solid or of hollow sheet metal construction and comprise a unit of wedge or obtuse triangular shaped transverse sections whereof the base portion extends parallel to the plane of the transverse members 25, 25 or parallel to the incline of the face members l2, l2, Extending from the base portions of the wing members 29, 29 are the flanges 30, 30 parallel thereto with the faces of the wing or stop members 29 inclined in an outward direction from the aforesaid flanges or the face components 12, 12 or the portions 25, 25 so that when the frame members are pivoted on their pintles they come to rest at an incline to the horizontal and to the upright face of the stand component of the present invention for easy access in viewing.
For adjustability of the stand capacity, the flanges 30 of the end stop members carry looking screws 31, 31 engaged through the horizontally extending slots 32 in the members 25 and by manipulating the locking screws 31 the stop members 29 may be first moved horizontally the length of the slots 30 and then the screws tightened to fix the stops in desired position whereby the capacity of the stand may be adjusted so as to conveniently accommodate any desired number of frames consistent with the width of the stand.
Although I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that changes may be made in the details thereof without departing from its scope.
lclaim:
