Abstract
A TABLE SECURABLE TO A CONVENTIONAL POLE LAMP, THE TABLE COMPRISING TWO SEMI-CIRCULAR PANELS WHICH MAY BE CLAMPED INDIVIDUALLY AROUND THE POLE SO TO FORM SEMICICULAR TABLES, OR ELSE CLAMPED TOGETHER AROUND THE POLE SO TO FORM A CIRCULAR TABLE.
Description
United States Patent O 3,620,174 POLE LAMP TABLE Emma L. Dentino, R.R. 1, Box 36, Chillicothe, Ill. 61523 Filed Feb. 9, 1970, Ser. No. 9,844 Int. Cl. A47b 13/02 U.s. Cl. s-151 2 claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to tables generally. More specifically it relates to table tops which are mountable by clamp means to vertical pipe stanchions.
A principal object of the present invention is to provide a table panel that is quickly and easily attachable to a conventional pole lamp such as which is secured at the lower end to a iloor and at its upper end to a ceiling, the pole having one or more lamps mounted on a side thereof.
Another object is to provide a pole lamp table which comprises a semi-circular panel that can be quickly and easily clamped around a lamp pole so to take advantage of the existing pole lamp to serve as a base for supporting the table panel, and at the same time taking advantage of the pole lamp to give illumination above the table so to see thereupon.
Yet another object is to provide a pole lamp table of semi-circular shape, and wherein it can be used above or in conjunction with a second semi-circular table so to form a full round table as desired.
Other objects are to provide a pole lamp table which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efcient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specication and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective View of the parts of the invention shown in exploded position. I
FIG. 2 is a cross section on line 2-2 of FIG. 1 showing two table units secured together to form a round table.
FIG. 3 is a top plan View thereof.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral 10 represents a pole lamp table according to the present invention, wherein there is a conventional pole lamp 111 along which there may be supported one or a plurality of lamps 12, the pole 13 thereof being secured at its lower end to the iioor and at its upper end to the ceiling.
In the present invention, a semicircular table panel 14 made of wood, plastic or other material, the panel having a decorative edge 1S along a semicircular edge 16 and a diametrically straight edge 17 that extends through a semicircular central notch 18 designed to receive a bracket 19 of metal, and which is secured thereto by means of 3,620,174 Patented Nov. 16, 1971 wood screws or the like inserted at 20 in the bracket flanges 21 and into the pads 22 at the panel notch, thus firmly securing the panel and bracket together. The bracket lower end extends below the elevation of the panel lower side so that the lower extending portion of the bracket flanges each have an opening 23 for receiving a mounting bolt. The upper edge 24 of the bracket is fitted against a shoulder 25 of the notch and pads.
In operative use the panel is positioned alongside the pole 13 so that the pole is seated in the notch after which another like bracket 19a is positioned against the opposite side of the pole so that the openings 23a thereof align with openings 23 of bracket 19, after which bolts are inserted therethrough and secured by a nut. Thus a semicircular table is provided. Alternately, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the semicircular panel 14 and its attached bracket 19 can be positioned adjacent another semicircular panel 14 and its attached bracket 19 with the pole 13 therebetween so to form a round table; bolts being inserted through the aligned openings 23 of each bracket. Thus perhaps the device could be possibly marketed as a set comprised of two semicircular units and two extra brackets 19a so to permit either construction of one round table or two semicircular tables.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention.
I claim:
1. In a pole lamp table, the combination of a semicircular flat table panel, -bounded by a semi-circular edge and a diametrical straight side having a central semicircular notch adapted to receive snugly therein a circular pole lamp and a bracket, said notch including a lower portion of greater diameter to seat a semi-circular central portion of the bracket, wherein said bracket includes similar llanges extending diametrically laterally from said central portion and wherein said straight side includes similar recesses to receive said flanges ilush with said side, including means for attaching the ilanges to the panel and wherein said bracket has a lower portion extending heneath said panel in further combination with an opposing similar bracket adapted to be mounted opposite the iirst said bracket about said pole including aligned holes in said lower portions of said bracket flanges for securing the brackets and table panel together in said pole lamps.
2. A pole lamp table as in claim 1, in further combination with a panel similar to the first said panel, wherein the second said panel is mounted on the pole lamp symmetrically opposite the first said panel and includes means for being secured to the second said bracket.
