Adams ABSTRACT: This invention relates to a back scrubber for bathing which is specifically constructed to facilitate quick and easy changing of the scrubbing cloth mounted thereon while providing highly effective means for positively holding the cloth in operative position.
nAcir scnusnnn Many back scrubbing devices have been marketed over the years; however, none of these has been particularly successful with the possible exception of the conventional back scrubbing shower brush. Such brushes are difiicult to clean and are subject to contamination. 1
it is an object of the present invention to provide a back scrubber for bathing which is provided with a scrubbing cloth which can be quickly and easily changed after use so that it can be kept clean and sanitary.
More specifically, it is an object to provide a back scrubber for bathing which is provided with a soft compressible pad with a scrubbing cloth surrounding the same wherein the scrubbing cloth is positively held in place by means of a resilient anchoring member which not only permits quick and easy changing of the cloth as well as the pad if desired, but also provides the desired resilience for holding the cloth and pad in position.
These and other objects and advantages of this invention wiii be apparent from the following description made in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein like reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, and in which:
FIG. i is a bottom plan view of a back scrubber embodying this invention;
FIG. 2 is an elevational view of the back scrubber with the handle broken away;
Flt}. 3 is a top plan view of the invention with portions thereof broken away; and
HG. d is a vertical sectional view taken substantially along the line 4-4 of FllG. i.
As illustrated in the accompanying drawing, 1 provide a a positive locking of the cloth in combination with a resilient anchoring element such as the elastic band best shown in MG. 3.
A soft pad 116 is positioned on one side of the inner cross-rib Ma and a scrubbing cloth i7 is inserted through the from opening 12 and is doubled back on itself around the outer rib M12, is wrapped around'tthe pad id as best shown in FIG. 2 and extends through the rear opening i3, and the end portions of the the double thickness of the cloth ll? are disposed in overlying relation to the rib Ma. The wedge-shaped locking element Me is best shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, The ends of the elastic anchoring band are hooked around a pair of anchoring elements such as the pinlike members 1i) as best shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 which in the form shown are integrally formed with the head 11 on opposing sides of the inner cross-rib Ma. The elastic anchoring band is stretched between the two anchoring pins 18 and overlies the marginal end portions of the scrubbing cloth as previously described.
It will of course be understood that various changes may be made in the form, details, arrangement, and proportion of the parts without departing from the scope of the invention, which generally stated, consists in the matter set forth in the accompanying claims.
l claim:
1. A back scrubber comprising an elongated handle, a head fixed to said handle and having a pair ofspaced apart openings formed therein to define outer and inner crossbars, a pad mounted on one side of said head, a scrubbing cloth inserted through the outer opening and doubled back upon itself around the outer crossbar and extending inwardly therefrom in wrapped around relation to said pad and extending through the inner opening into overlying relation to the inner crossbar and means for removabiy clamping the same against the adjacent surface of the inner crossbar surface.
2. The structure set forth in claim l and stud removable clamping means constituting a stretchable member.
3. The structure set forth in claim 2 and said inner crossbar having a wedge-shaped locking element sloping outwardly to increase the tension on said clamping means when tension is applied to the scrubbing cloth during use.
Claims (3)
1. A back scrubber comprising an elongated handle, a head fixed to said handle and having a pair of spaced apart openings formed therein to define outer and inner crossbars, a pad mounted on one side of said head, a scrubbing cloth inserted through the outer opening and doubled back upon itself around the outer crossbar and extending inwardly therefrom in wrapped around relation to said pad and extending through the inner opening into overlying relation to the inner crossbar and means for removably clamping the same against the adjacent surface of the inner crossbar surface.
2. The structure set forth in claim 1 and said removable clamping means constituting a stretchable member.
3. The structure set forth in claim 2 and said inner crossbar having a wedge-shaped locking element sloping outwardly to increase the tension on said clamping means when tension is applied to the scrubbing cloth during use.
