Description
UNITED; y STATES.'

SPECIFICATION-forming part of Letters Patent Nb.\352,182, dated November 9, 1886.
- Application led March-5,18%. -Serial No. 194,101.v (No model.) I
To ctZZ whom it may concern: 's Be it known that I, LEsLrE M. DAEEow, a citizen of the United States, residing atStockton, in the county of San Joaquin and State of California, have invented certain new and usefu-l Improvementsin Ironing-Boards, of which the following is,a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawlngs.
My invention relates to an vimprovement'in that class of domestic appliances termed laundry implements, upon which clothes. are ironed; and it consists in the combination and arrangement of certain parts, as hereinafter explained, and pointed out in the claim.
Referring to the accompanying drawings,
Figurel is a bottom view of my ironing-board,
with part broken away. Fig. 2 is a section through line '90, Fig. l. the head-piece, which is attached to the Wall.
A is the ironing-board proper, which has a tenon at the front end which is inserted in a mortise in a head-piece, B, which is screwed to the Wall. Hooks a secure the board A to the piece B by means of the staples b. Grosscleats O'and D, the former at the front end and the latter at the center of the board A,
stiften the board A. A longitudinal cleat, F, extends rearwardly from the cleat D, and lis secured to the bottom of the board A. It has upon its face, rigidly attached, an iron plate,
Fig. 3 is a view ofsired'intervals. A brace-leg, E, has one partof a hinge, screwed to its top. The other part of the hinge e is attached by a set-screw, G, (passing through a hole in hinge 6,) to the plate H at any one of its screw-holes g.
rIhe board A being set in position and attached by the hooks a and staples b to the piece B, attached to the wall, as shown, the bracelegE is attached to the plate H at any desired point and its lower end pressed rmly against'thewall. -The ironing-board is then in readiness for use.
When not in use, the board AY may be detached from the piece B.
Having thusidescribed my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-l 'Ihecombination of the board'A, the headpiece B, the hooks a and `their staples b, the cross-cleats Grand D, the longitudinal cleats F, the plate II, attached thereto and provided with a series of screw-threaded apertures, g, the hinge e, the setscreW G, andthe brace-leg E, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
