SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,673, dated October 26, 1886.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY VOSBURGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Allegan, in the county of Allegan and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Mechanical Device for Hanging Picture-Frames, Looking-Glasses,or anything Similar,ofwhich This invention has for its object to provide for conveniently adjusting the picture or other frame, when hung, to any desired angle, and also to provide for adjusting it so as to hang straight. as more fully hereinafter specified. These objects I attain by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which is represented a rear view of a frame, showing my invention applied thereto.

111 the said drawing the letter A indicates a frame of any description, which is provided at its rear with pins or nails B O, on opposite sides, near the top and bottom. To the nails or pins B is secured the end of a cord or wire, D, which is carried downward under the said nails or pins.

The letter E indicates a slide,which may be constructed of wood or other suitable material, and which is arranged to slide over the central loop, d, of the cord or wire, and F indicates similar slides arranged upon the side loops, 1), between the upper and lower pins or nails at the respective sides of the frame.

The frame is hung or suspended by the central loop, (I, from a suitable nail, pin, or other device driven in or secured to a wall or other support. When thus suspended, the angle at which the frame hangs may be conveniently and quickly adjusted by shifting the slide E, while the frame may be adjusted laterally, so as to hang straight, by means of the side slides, F, which may be shifted on the lower loops, b, for the purpose.

Being aware that it is not new to adjust and hang picture and other fram'es by attaching vertical rods to the back of the frames, and providing the same with sliding rings through which the hanging-cord passes, I do not claim such construction as my invention.
