INDEX FOR BOOKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 341,782, dated May 11, 1886.
Application filed June 4, 1885. Serial No. 167,688.
To an whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN F. TROW, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Index for Books, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention, which is applicable to books of different kinds, including directories, encyclopedias, dictionaries, ledgers, and any other books, on or in which an index is necessary or desirable, consists in a novel arrangement of the index, as hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawing, which forms part of this spectification, and which represents a view in perspective of a book having the index arranged on the inner surface of the upper projecting or marginal end port-ion of the back between the side covers of the book in accordance with my invention.
