No. 439,259 Claims. (Cl. 4-111) The present invention relates to an improved stand up toilet and the like, and more particularly relates to toilet facility in which it may be used by one who cannot readily sit down on a conventional type toilet seat due to being in a cast, being encumbered with arthritis or other ailments. The invention relates to a simple device that is easily constructed and may be taken apart and set up in a short period of time, and may be made portable for use when traveling. It can be constructed of light materials such as aluminum, plastic, and the like.

A further object of the invention is that it is comprised of a series of telescopically slidable supporting elements for a toilet pan mounted from a base so that tall as Well as short persons may readily adapt the toilet facility for use independent of any capability of using the toilet facility as a seating structure so that persons unable to seat themselves may advantageously benefit from the construction of the present invention.

An additional advantage of the invention is that a fulcrum mounted lever mechanism is provided to raise and lower the toilet pan receptacle to adapt the use of the toilet facility for tall or short patients, and there are also provided set screw and pin mechanisms for locking or fastening the series of telescopic elements in a given fixed relation.

The above and other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent upon a full consideration of the following detailed description and accompanying drawings in which:

FIGURE 1 is a plan view of the toilet pan receptacle showing the component parts as mounted from a series of telescopic slidably engaging elements mounted from a base shown in dotted lines;

FIGURE 2 shows a perspective side view of the construction of the improved stand up toilet facility of the present invention;

FIGURE 3 shows a cross-sectional view taken along lines 33 of FIGURE 1;

FIGURE 4 shows a cross-sectional view taken along lines 44- of FIGURE 3; and

FIGURE 5 shows a cross-sectional view taken along lines 5-5 of FIGURE 3 showing the set screw means for positioning the telescopic elements in a given position.

Referring now to the drawings, there is shown a stand up toilet facility having a base 12 with leg extensions 14, 14- for supporting the base from the floor, and a series of telescopic slidably engaging

16, 16, 16 mounted from said base by means of a screw or bolt 18, and in which the telescopic elements are disposed in a generally upward direction from said base 12 and in which a toilet pan receptacle 20 is mounted from one of said series of telescopic elements 16.

Within the toilet pan receptacle 20 there is a series of container pans 22, 24 adapted for use by the patient as a bed pan or other means incident to a toilet facility.

16, 16, 16 may be secured in place while being transported portably or otherwise as well as being stored by inserting a pin 50 into an aperture 52 in the telescopic elements when the apertures 52 are in alignment, so that the telescopic elements are retained in a given position. The telescopic slidable elements may also be secured in a given position by adjusting the set screw 56, as shown in FIGURES 2, 3 and 5, and upon tightening of the set screw 56 the series of telescopic elements are thus locked into any given position. Also a wing nut or other set screw arrangement 58 is provided for additional engaging and locking purposes, as desired. There is also shown in the fulcrum mounted le-ver mechanism 30, a bracket 60 from which the pin 38 is mounted, as shown in FIGURE 4 in detail. In this way, the stand up toilet facility is adapted to be adjustable along its vertical axis so that tall or short patients my use the stand up toilet facility within the teachings and contemplation of the invention.

Additional embodiments may be suggested within the scope of the invention, and by use of the lever arrangement it is seen that it is used to raise or lower the toilet pan receptacle that has the containers positioned therein up against the users buttocks and thus provide the feeling as though the patients were sitting on a toilet seat. When the lever is pushed downwardly and over the center, the receptacle will stay in position without support from the patients hands. The apparatus of the invention is adapted to be disassembled for portable packaging. The invention therefore contemplates that patients are provided with a useful article of apparatus while they are unable to use conventional equipment.

Additional embodiments of this inventon will occur to others and therefore it is intended that the scope of the invention be limited only by the appended claims and not by the embodiment described hereinabove. Accordingly, reference should be made to the following claims in determining the full scope of the invention.

What is claimed is:

1. A stand up portable toilet facility comprising a base having leg extensions for supporting the base from the floor, a series of telescopic elements threa-dedly mounted from said base, a toilet pan receptacle mounted from the other end of one of the telescopic elements, a series of container pans received in said pan receptacle, a fulcrum mounted lever mechanism to raise and lower said pan receptacle for adapting the toilet facility for use by tall or short patients wherein a pin and aperture arrangement for locking said series of telescopic elements in place is provided.

2. The stand up portable toilet facility of claim 1 wherein the pin is a set screw.

3. The invention according to claim 1 wherein said series of container pans is removably installed in said pan receptacle.

4. The invention according to claim 1 wherein said fulcrum mounted lever mechanism is operable while said toilet facility is in use.

5. The invention according to claim 1 wherein the component parts of said stand up toilet facility are demountable for disassembly into their component parts.

Claims

1. A STAND UP PORTABLE TOILET FACILITY COMPRISING A BASE HAVING LEG EXTENSIONS FOR SUPPORTING THE BASE FROM THE FLOOR, A SERIES OF TELESCOPIC ELEMENTS THREADEDLY MOUNTED FROM SAID BASE, A TOILET PAN RECEPTACLE MOUNTED FROM THE OTHER END OF ONE OF THE TELESCOPIC ELEMENTS, A SERIES OF CONTAINER PANS RECEIVED IN SAID PAN RECEPTACLE, A FULCRUM MOUNTED LEVER MECHANISM TO RAISE AND LOWER SAID PAN RECEPTACLE FOR ADAPTING THE TOILET FACILITY FOR
