B. BROWNSON.
FLY NET.
Patented June 10, 1884.
U ITED STATES PATENT OFFICEQ RALPH BROVVNSON, OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO PETER R. L, HARDENBERGH, OF SAME PLACE.
FLY-NET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 299,953, dated June 10,1884.
Application filed November 13, 1883. (No model.)
'10 0,613 whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, RALPH. BROWNSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey, in the State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Nets for Horses, &c., of which the following specification is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being also had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of a portion of a leather fiy-net for horses, 8m. Fig. 2 is an inverted perspective view of a portion of the back-strap, showing the manner of securing the ends of the strings therein. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the strings detached.
A is the backstrap, B B B B the side straps,- and a the leather strings, of a leather fly-net such as is used upon horses, &c., the said flynet being constructed according to my invention. Each of the strings a is formed with one end, I), pointed, and the other end, 0, enlarged, so that the strings may be easily in 'serted through the holes in the straps, but
will be prevented from being drawn entirely throughthe back-strap A by reason of the enlarged end a. When the parts of the nets are put together the strings a are first drawn through the back-strap A, and then turned in opposite directions and passed through the holes in the side straps B B B B", as shown, the enlarged ends 0 preventing the strings being drawn entirely through the back-strap A. By this simple device no other fastenings than the enlarged ends are required to secure the strings in the net, thereby doing away with all sewing, riveting, or other fastenings heretofore used.
Having described my invention and set forth its merits, what I claim is-- In a fiy-net, the combination, with the supporting strap or straps, of strings a. a, having enlarged ends 0 a, substantially as and for the purpose herein specified. 45
RALPH BROWNSON.
