SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 294,469, dated March 4,' 1884.

Be it known that we, STEPHEN O? HOWARD, of'New York, county and State of New York, and JOHN C. SOHOTT, of Providence, county of Providence, State of Rhode Island, have invented an Improvement in Sleeve-Buttons, of which the following description, in connection ith the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like letters on the drawings representing like parts.
This invention has forits object an improvement in sleeve-buttons, whereby new and ornamental effects may be had; and our invention consists, essentially, in a sleeve-button composed of a main and asuperimposed frame, or of two frames-oneabove the other-each frame being shaped to exhibit the stone, pearl, or other ornamental panel, block, or plate Within it. 4

We claim A button shank, back, shoe, and frame, d,
and stone or other ornamental panel or plate,
combined with a supplemental frame supported above the level of the frame d, and a stone or other ornamental panel or plate therein, all substantially as described.
