SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 294,011, dated February 26, 1884.

Be it known that I, JOHN H. CHRISTY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cowden, in the county of Shelby and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harrows; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in harrows, and has for its object to lift one side or the other of the harrow while in motion.

This object is attained by the mechanism illusmay be made of any of the ordinary forms inA general use. p

E are the hinges connecting the central beam to the frames B B.

G is a hinge connecting the beam A to the handle H, permitting the latter to be raised or lowered.

K is a spiral spring, supporting the handle H in an inclined position to the beam A.

L is an arc of metal, pivoted at its lower end in a slot formed in the beam A. It eX- tends upwardly and passes through a slot in the handle H, and is provided with check` lifted clear of the ground, and thus Aavoid vJOHN HENRY CHRISTY.
