Description
A. P. MATTES .CALENDAR WRIST BAND, ATTACHMENT April s, 1958 Filed ApTil 2. 1956 ATTORNEYS United States Patent CALENDAR WRIST BAND ATTACHMENT Alan P. Mattes, Sacramento, Calif. Application April 2, 1956, Serial No. 575,578
1 Claim. (Cl. 40-10) This invention relates to a device especially designed for supporting a calendar or similar display device, which may be readily and easily secured to the bracelet or wrist band of a wrist watch, so that the display material carried thereby may be observed by the wearer of the attachment.
An important object of the invention is to provide a container in which a strip of material having indicia thereon is held and is visible through the transparent covering of the container so that the indicia strip carried therein, may be observed without the necessity of removing or opening the container.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a transparent container in which the strip of material carrying the indicia is held, which container will protect the strip against damage incident to the wearing of a device of this character.
Other and further objects and advantages of the in vention will be hereinafter described and the novel features thereof defined in the appended claim.
Referring to the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the display device constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a bottom plan View thereof.
Fig. 3 is a view of the container illustrating the various elements of the container prior to folding the elements in the construction of the container.
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on line 44 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 6 is a sectional view taken on line 66 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the case or container forming the subject matter of the present invention is generally designated by the reference character 5 and embodies a cover section 6, side sections 7, and a divided bottom section including members 8 which form a part of the side sections.
These bottom members 8 are of widths so that when they are folded inwardly in the formation of the case or container, they will completely cover the section 6 in spaced relation therewith, protecting the contents of the case or container.
Formed integral with the cover section 6, and disposed 2,829,453 Patented Apr. 8, 1958 at the ends thereof, are end sections or taps 9 that are designed to be folded inwardly over the card indicated by the reference character 10 on which the indicia are formed in the construction of a calendar. 7
- It will of course be understood that the case or container is constructed of semi-rigid transparent plastic material capable of bending slightly to conform to the slight curvature of the wrist on which the container or case is worn. I
As shown by Fig. 4 of the drawing, the inturned end sections 9 grip the card 10 and hold the same in close contact with the inner surface of the cover section so that the indicia thereon may be conveniently viewed therethrough.
There is also shown by Fig. 4 of the drawing, a wide space as provided between the bottom section 8 of the case or container, and the end sections 9, so that the bracelet or watch band may be extended therethrough to securely hold the case or container on the bracelet or watch band.
It is also contemplated to provide a card having indicia printed thereon to display the days of the week and the dates of the days for approximately three months. However the size of the card with the months of the year displayed thereon may be varied without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Due to the fact that the case or container is constructed of transparent material, the cover section will provide means for adequately protecting the card against the elements, and at the same time permit ready reading of the card.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:
A display device adapted to be attached to a bracelet, comprising an elongated case of flexible transparent material, including a transparent cover section against which a card having indicia is positioned, side sections, inwardly foldable end tabs formed at the ends of said cover section, said tabs being of a length in excess of the height of said side sections and folded over the ends of said card having indicia thereon holding said card against said cover section for viewing through said cover section, and a bottom embodying sections foldablelaterally over said end tabs and card in spaced relation therewith and having their inner edges in abutting relation when folded, providing a space therebetween through which a supporting wrist strap is extended for securing said case to the wrist of the wearer, said wrist strap holding said end tabs in engaging relation with said card, the engagement of said strap about the wrist of the wearer holding said bottom sections in folded position.
