UNITED STATES PATENT 'OFFrcn.
JACOB F. BAHRET, OF FORT WAYNE, INDIANA.
TOY TRUNDLE OR HOOP.
. SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 276,746, dated May 1, 1883.
Application filed March a, 1883. lhlodel.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JACOB F. BAHRET, of Fort Wayne, county of Allen, and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Trundles or Hoops; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
This invention has for its objects to provide an improved toy running hoop'or trundle for children, which can be easily managed by any child, and which, when in motion, by reason of its peculiar construction, will present a pleasing appearance, as more fully hereinafter specified.
The above'mentioned objects I attain by the means illustrated in the accompanying draw ings, in which Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a detail sectional wew.
The letter A indicates a hoop or wheel having two sets of curved spokes. A, one at each side, as indicated. These spokes are arranged to turn freely on a short shaft or sleeve, B, through which is passed the bifurcated frame 0, which straddles the wheel, and is provided with a handle, D, as shown. Within the wheel A, between the spokes and attached to the shaft or sleeve B, is astationary wheel, E, having curved spokes F, the said spokes turning in adirectionopposite to the spokes of the wheel A. Between the spokes of the wheel A and the-shoulders on the shaft or axle are interposed the washers G to keep the spokes on the large wheel at an equaldistance from the by the handle, and the hoop placed upon the ground and pushed forward by the child to tating the large wheel while the small wheel remains stationary. 'lhe spokes of the respective wheels being curved in opposite directions and painted in different colors, as the larger wheel moves and causes its spokes to pass those of the smaller wheel, a pleasing combination of colors and an agreeable efi'ect are produced.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
A toy hoop or trundleconsisting of arevolving wheel mounted upon a short shaft, and provided with curved spokes on opposite sides, a smaller non-revolving wheel mounted upon the same shaft and having spokes curved in the opposite direction, the respective sets ot'spokes being differently colored, and the bifurcated -frame and handle, the whole arranged to oper- Witnesses:
