S'BECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 267,588, dated November 14, 1882.

To all whom it may concern:

Be itknown that I, MAURICE PRICE, of New York city, county and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Shirts, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new manner of constructing lthe front or bosom part of a shirt in connection with the parts that adjoin the bosom; and it consists in making the bosom ot' a shirt in one piece with the two 1re-enforcing wings or sides thereof, that are Iattached to the body ot' the shirt in front.

In the drawings, the letter A represents the body of the shirt, made of cotton fabric or of other suitable fabric.

B is the bosom, made of linen,wool, or other suitable fabric.

U C are the re-enforcin g sides, placed over the hody ot' the fabric in front, next to the bosom. Now, my invention consists in making these two re-eni'orcing sides, C G,and the bosom B all in one single piece, as is fully shown in Fig. 2. The bosom can be distinguished from the reen forcing Wings or sides C U by suitable plaits, a a, into which the fabric is folded at the juncture of these parts, and the bosom may also have one or more plaits, b, formed in it, asindicated.

By means of this improvement the shirt is made much stronger, the bosom is not liable to wear out at the edges, the owner need not at all times wear a waistcoat, and will still present a proper garment beneath the coat, particularly when the shirt is made ot patterned material in colors, and material and labor are saved to a considerable extent that would otherwise be required in making the re-enforcing sides separate from the bosom and joining them by stitches. In addition to this, the re-eni'orcing sides C C, made in one piece with the bosom, strengthen the shirt materially, as they extend up to the shoulder parts ot the shirt, and therefore brace the entire garment.

I claiml. A shirt having the bosom B and the reenforcing Wings or sides C C, all made of one continuous piece of fabric, substantially as shown and described.

2. The shirt having bosom B and re-enforcing Wings or sides C C, all made in one piece, and intervening plaits e a, substantially as herein shown and described.
