2 Claims.

This invention relates to belt hangers for holding a plurality of belts.

One of the objects of the invention is to pro# vide a belt hanger for holding a plurality of belts wherein each independentbelt engages an independent holding edge of the hanger.

Another 'object of the invention is to provide a transparent belt hanger wherein both they belt and the buckle may be seen from either side of the hanger.y Y y Another object of my invention is to provide an economical belt hanger for holding a plurality of belts in an orderly manner.

Other objects and a fuller understanding of this invention may be had by referring to the following description and claims, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing in which:

Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the belt hanger;

Figure 2 is a fragmentary sectional view along the line 2-2 of Figure l; and

Figure 3 is a fragmentary sectional view along the line 3-3 of Figure 1.

Thevbelt hanger illustrated and described herein is designed for holding a plurality of belts, some of which have buckles thereon and some of which do not have buckles thereon. For purposes of description, the belt is generally referred to as a flexible strap provided with a buckle on one end thereof.

The belt hanger illustrated in Figure 1 is provided With a plurality of horizontal transparent bars, such as the bar I0. Although the drawing illustrates a specific number of horizontal transparent bars, it is understood that any number of these bars may be used and that the bars are spaced apart vertically. In this instance, the bars are supported at the ends thereof by framework having end members II and a top crossmember I2. A hook I3 may be fastened to the center of this top cross-member I2 so that the entire belt hanger may be easily hooked over a clothes closet rod or other similar member.

Each horizontal transparent bar I is provided with opposite vertical surfaces I5 and I6 respectively, as best illustrated in Figure 2. These surfaces I5 and I6 are spaced apart a distance equal to the horizontal thickness of the bar. The surfaces I5 and I6 have a length equal to the length of the horizontal transparent bar and thus also equal to the distance between the end members II. The vertical surfaces I5 further have a vertical heighth equal to the vertical heighth of each horizontal transparent bar. Each bar I0 is pro- 2 l vided with a plurality of elongated slots I1 de Ifined by slotvsurfaces I8 and I9. As is best illustrated in Figure 2, these slot surfaces I8 and I9 are spaced vapart a distance greater than the thickness ofa belt which is to be inserted therebetween. The slot surfaces extend generally longitudinally of the bar and meet the vertical surfaces of the b ar at angles other than right angles. Since the slot surfaces I8 and I9 are at an angle other than Aright angles te the vertical surfaces of vthe'bar, edges 20 and 2I are formed. The edge 2t is at one surface and the edge 2I is at the opposite vertical surface of the bar.

In the drawings and especially in Figure 2, a belt is illustrated as having flexible strap 22 and buckle 23. In hanging the belt, the flexible strap 22 engages at least one of the edges 20 or 2l and the buckle 23 engages one of the vertical surfaces I5 or I6. In Figure 2, the flexible strap 22 engages the edge 2I with the strap hanging down from the vertical surface I5 and the buckle abutting the other vertical surface I6 of the horizontal transparent bar I0. Since the horizontal bar I0 is transparent, both the belt and the flexible strap are easily visible for quick identification.

In Figure 1 and in Figure 3 of the drawings, some of the horizontal bars are illustrated in the form of rods 25. These rods 25 are horizontally positioned and spaced apart in the same manner as the other bars such as the horizontal transparent bars I0. A plurality of spring operated clips 26 are slidably mounted on each of these rods 25. Each of these clips 26 is` provided with a spring 27. The clips 26 will receive and hold any belts not provided with buckles or any other small clothing article such, for example, as gloves.

Although this invention has been described in its preferred form with a certain degree of particularity, it is understood that the present disclosure of the preferred form has been made only by Way of example and that numerous changes in the details of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

What is claimed is:

1. A belt hanger for supporting a plurality of belts, comprising two spaced vertical frame members, a plurality of vertically spaced flat bars connected to said frame members, said bars having a small thickness dimension relative to said Width dimension, the width dimension extending vertically, surfaces on said bars defining elongated horizontal slots through the thickness of said bars adapted to receive one belt strap in each of 3- 4said slots with the belt buckle abutting one vertical face of said bars, each of said bars beingr made of a relatively hard non-pliable transparent material to permit viewing both the belt strap and the belt buckle from either side ofthe belt hanger, the slots of different bars being other than in vertical alignment to thus facilitate viewingan assortment of belts threaded through the Y e various slots, at least the lower surface defining each of said slots bei'i'igdisposed at "an acute angle to the horizontal to establish a sharp knife edge surface upon which a belt strap will lie whenV threaded through one of said slots, thereby pro; viding a firm gripping action With the belt's'trap t to prevent the belt strap from slidingmthrough the slot despite the weight of a buckle on the v belt strap.
