Description
April 15, 1952 I H SAND 2,593,200
COMB CLEANING DEVICE Filed March 9, 1951 m y g 1 /fi a am IN VENTOR ATTORNEY Patented Apr. 15, 1952 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE This invention relates to new and useful improvements in comb cleaning devices.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a novel device of the character specified, comprising two rotary brushes journaled to a suitable base or support and between which the comb is passed in a vertical reciprocating movement to revolve said brushes and effectively clean the teeth of the comb.
A further object of my invention is to provide a comb cleaning device of the character specified that is simple and economical in construction and highly efficient and durable in use.
With the foregoing and other objects in view that will appear as the nature of my invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, which are for illustrative purposes only and are therefore not drawn to scale:
Figure 1 is an edge View, illustrating the application of my invention.
Figure 2 is a horizontal section, taken on line 2--2 of Figure l, and Figure 3 is a vertical transverse section, taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention, and in which drawings like parts are designated by like reference characters throughout the several views, the device essentially comprises a base or support I, preferably of wood and of generally rectangular oblong form, provided at its outer end with a horizontally disposed plastic handle 2.
A pair of corresponding rotary brushes A and 'B, respectively, each consisting of an outer cylindrical shaft 3, carrying the bristles 4, and an 1 Claim. (Cl. 13227) inner reduced spindle 5, are arranged with their 3 bear and work against the inner end of the base or support I, while the outer ends of the reduced spindles 5 extend somewhat beyond the corresponding end of the base and are exteriorly threaded, as at 6, for screw threaded engagement with the nuts I. Washers 3 are preferably arranged between the nuts I and outer end of the base, the purpose of which will be apparent.
In practice, the comb is passed in a vertical position, between the pair of intermeshing rotary brushes A and B, thus revolving the latter and efiectively cleaning the teeth of the comb. The tension of the brushes may be regulated by tightening or loosening the nuts I.
From the foregoing description taken in con nection with the drawings, it is thought that the construction, operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood, without requiring a more extended explanation.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A comb cleaning device of the character specified, comprising a rectangular oblong base or support provided at its outer end with a handle, a pair of corresponding inte-rmeshirig rotary brushes between which the teeth of the comb are passed in a vertical position to effectively clean the former, said brushes comprising outer cylindrical shafts carrying the brush bristles and inner reduced spindles journaled to said base, and nuts screwing on the outer ends of said spindles.
