Be it known that I, STANLEY H. F RAZIER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gainesville, in the county of Harrison and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sift-ers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a sifter for Sifting flour and the like, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby the material can be sifted several times without removing it rfrom the the sifter.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim. Y

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote several views, and in which z- Figure l is a side view of the device.

Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view.

Figure 3 is a similar view but showing the parts in a different position` Figures 4 and 5 are detail views.

Figure 6 is a view of a cylindrical type of sifter.

In these views, 1 indicates the receptacle of the sifter which has its ends closed by the caps 2. In the first form of the invention the body of the sifter is shown as of rectangular shape while in the second form the body is of cylindrical shape, as shown at l with the caps 2 screwed thereon. The center of the body is restricted by converging walls meeting in spaced relation as shown in Figure 4 to form a throat 3 which connects the two end parts of the body together. A semicircular screen 4 is placed in said throat by having its disc-shaped ends 5 engaging the walls of the body. One disc is journaled to the shaft 6 which carries the agitating device 7 and the other disc is rotatably supported by means of the inner end of the arm receptacle of the agitating like or corresponding parts throughout the Serial No. 690,643.

8 which extends through the wall of the body and is provided with a handle part lO whereby the screen can be rotated to face towards either end of the device. This arm acts as an indicator and is held in adjusted position by the two clamps ll fastened to the body. The body is provided with the usual handle 12 through which the shaft 6 passes and this shaft is provided with the cranked end 13 by which it may be rotated to operate the agitating device.

From the above it will be seen that a quantity of flour or the like can be sifted by being placed in one end of the device and caused to pass through the screen by device and collected in the other end of the device. After sifting once dump foreign matter collected in the screen, place on 'cap and reverse parts. Thus the liour can be sifted as many times as desired.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall with- Vin the scope of the appended claim.

What I claim is :h

A sifter of the character described coinprising a cylindrical shaped body, a shaft passingy through the body, walls extending inward-ly from the sides of the cylindrical shape body and meeting to form an apex at each side substantially in the plane of the shaft, a semi-circular screen having` closures for its ends, one of said closures being journaled on the shaft. a handle passing through the wall of the body diametrically opposite the entrance of the shaft therein and connected with the other closure of the screen for reversal of the latter, means for holding the handle member in adjusted position and an agitating device xed to the shaft and operatively associated with said screen.
