I 1 Claim.
1 "This invention relates to childrens' amusement apparatus and -more particularly to one that can be used as a swing, a merry-go-round and a see-saw.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a swing that with small change can be converted into a merry-go-round or see-saw.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is comparatively simple in construction, readily and easily converted, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose, strong, durable and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel feature of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure l is an elevational View of an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is an end view thereof.
Figure 3 is a detailed view of one of the eccentrics in operation to disengage the roller.
Figure 4 is the same with the roller engaged.
Figure 5 is a detailed view of the fastening means for the swing board.
Figure 6 is a perspective view with the swing in use as a see-saw.
Figure '7 is a perspective view of the swing support in position for the device to be used as a merry-go-round.
Figure 8 is a detailed View of the central support for the swing board and Figure 9 is a detailed view of the upper support for the swing board.
Referring more in detail to'the drawing the reference numeral [0 designa es the supporting frame which may be made of wood, channel iron or similar materials.
The frame It comprises a ridge pole i2 which is supported by the inclined legs M which are secured to the ridge pole by bolts IE or similar methods depending upon the construction of the frame.
--when the device isin use the'eccentrics engage the ground and prevent-the device from creeping or moving.
Secured to the ridge pole 52 at the medial point thereof is the U-shaped upper support 30, the uprights of which enter the apertured plate 32 positioned on the ridge pole I2 and by means of nuts 34 the support 3@ is firmly fixed to the ridge pole.
The support 30 is provided with an eye 35 to receive the swivel 38 which in turn is connected to the triangular swing board support 49. The ends of the support are bridged by the rod 42 and nuts 44 secure the rod 42 to the support 40. The rod 52 has mounted thereon at the center thereof the movable semi-circular member 46 to which is secured the swing board 48 thus by means of the swivel 38 the swing board can be used as a merry-go-round and by means of the movable semi-circular member 46 the swing board can be used as a see-saw.
When the apparatus is to be used as a swing, triangular supports 50 secured to the ridge pole [2 by eye bolts 52 are employed. The supports 59 are made from a single rod being welded as a unit at 54 and the eye bolts 52 are secured to the ridge pole i2 by nuts 56.
The ends of the swing board 48 are provided with spring fasteners 53 secured to the swing board by screws 68 which retain the supports 50 in position under the swing board.
Bumpers 62 are secured outwardly of the fasteners 58 to prevent the swing board from contacting the floor and mashing the occupants finger when the swing board is used as a seesaw.
When the apparatus is to be used as a see-saw the supports 50 can hang as shown in Figure 6 but when it is desired to use the apparatus as a merry-go-round the supports 5!! are swung outwardly and retained in this position by elongated hooks 64 secured to one key by a staple 6-3 and hooked at the other end to an eye 63 in the opposed leg. Thus the supports are swung clear and retained in the manner to permit the use of the apparatus as a merry-go-round.
It is believed that the operation and construction of the device will be apparent to those skilled in the art and it is to be understood that various changes in the details of construction, arrangement and combination of the parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described comprising a supporting frame having a ridge pole supported adjacent its ends by outwardly inclined legs, diagonally extending braces extending between the legs and the ridge pole and cross braces extending between the legs adjacent the ridge pole, a U-shaped support connected to the central portion of the ridge pole, a swivel means connected to said support, a triangular swing board support connected to said swivel means, a swing board, and the ends of said triangular swing board support being spaced apart to receive said swing board therebetween, a cross bar carried by the lower ends of the triangular swing board support and means pivotally securing said cross bar to said swing board, secondary supporting means secured to the said ridge pole adjacent the ends thereof, triangular supports movably connected to said secondary supporting means and means carried by the undersurface of said swing board 7 for detachably securing said triangular supports to said swing board adjacent the outer ends thereof.
