. NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES H. PEL'IIER, OF FARIBAULT, MINNESOTA.-
BILL-FILE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 250,045, dated November 22, 1881.
Application filed March 10, 1881.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES H. PEL'IIER a citizen of the United States, resident at Faribault, in the county of Rice and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bill-Files and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a representation of a front view. Fig. 2 is a rear view, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view.
This invention relates to improvements in devices for filing away bills, prescriptions, &c.
The invention consists in the construction hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the annexed drawings, A represents a strip of sheet metal-tin preferably. The edge a is bent around a rod, B, having hook I). In this strip, at the other edge, are made the transverse parallel cuts 0, vforming the short strips 0. Thenumber ofthese short strips may vary, one hundred (100)being the best. The strip A (No model.
is bent length wise, so as to turn the short strips in upon the uncut portion, forming a channel between the two. The papers are placed with one edge in this channel. They are held by punching holesz in the short strips 0, and the corner of the papers coming under the strips. In this way onepaper after another is punched in until all the strips 0 are used. When filled the strips A can be filed away in any manner. A horizontal wire can be stretched and the strips hooked over it. A tag can be hung on at every thousand, so that the strip wanted can be quickly found. The papers in each strip are to be numbered and the figures continued on from strip to strip.
What I claim is A device for file-papers, consisting in a rod,
B, having a hook, I), at one end, and a sheet of metal, A, bent around said rod, and having the transverse strips 0, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES H. PELTIER.
