This invention relates to a golf club holding device and has for its main objects to provide gripping means to be worn on one hand of the golf player to assist in firmly holding the handle of the golf club and prevent slipping thereof in the swing or stroke by the player, simple in structure, cheap to manufacture, easy to apply for use, and highly efficient for its purpose. It is well known that in playing golf, especially in hot weather, the club is inclined to slip slightly in the hands of the player in the Cul'se of a violent swing of the club. A very slight slip of the club is liable to reduce the efficiency of the stroke or spoil it altogether. The present invention is intended to overcome all slipping of the club in the hands of the player. Other objects and advantages will appear from the drawing and description.

By referring to the drawing, part of this application, it will be observed that Fig. 1 is a plan view of the club gripping slip-loop, base part for attaching thereto the loop strip, with buckle means for holding the assembly on the hand of the player; Fig. 2 shows the device on thehand of the golf player; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the gripping slip-loop in combination with part of a glove as a modified form of the device.

Similar reference numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the device comprises a base piece of leather or similar material I adapted to fit upon the inner portion of the wrist. Attached to the base piece by sewing or other suitable means is a strip of leather or other similar material 2 with a buckle 3 fastened to one end and buckle holes 4 positioned in the other end portion 5 of the strip. The center portion of the strip is formed into a gripping slip-loop 6 by means of cut in the strip and the strip being curved around and passed through the slip to thus form the loop that will grip the handle 8 of the golf club as plainly shown in Fig. 2. The gripping is the result of pulling the loop portion of the strip with the club inserted therethrough away from the fastened end portions of the strip; thereby causing the slip-loop to contract and grip the club handle 8 within the loop. The modified form as shown in Fig. 3 works the same as the type shown in Figs. 1 and 2, but it is provided with a partial glove 9 supporting base as a more stable and fixed connection with the hand Hi. Any similar fastening means may be used the object being to hold the loop assembly firmly adjacent and around the wrist.

The device may be made of any material suitable for the purpose but I prefer to use a good grade of leather with efiicient holding means such as a standard type of buckle. Also the device may be made in various sizes and for either the right or left hand as only one is worn at a time.

While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, I do not wish to limit same to the exact and precise details of structure, but reserve the right to make all modifications and changes so long as they remain within the spirit and scope of the following claim.

Having described my invention I claim:

In a golf club handle gripping device of the character described comprising; a part of a leather hand glove as the main member, a strip of leather attached to the inner wrist portion of the main member at each end of the strip, the middle portion of the strip being slack between where it is attached to the main member, a slit in the slack middle portion of the strip, the middle portion of the strip forming a slip-loop with one end of the slack portion passed through the said slit, one end of the strip having anattached extension beyond the glove wrist portion and adapted to encircle a wrist, a second attached extension on the other end of the loop piece and extending therefrom, fastening means attached to the free ends of said attached extensions adapted for holding the same around a wrist; the said slip-loop adapted to rest in the hand-palm portion of the glove main member and being adapted to grip a golf club handle inserted through the loop when by manual means the handle and loop therearound are urged away from the fastened end portions of the strip.
