Description
W. N. WYLIE.
Clothes-Slide.
No. 225,202. Patented Mar.2,*18so.
W minimum UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. 1
WILLIAM N. WYLIE, OF BLACK RIVER FALLS, WISCONSIN.
CLOTH ES-SLI DE SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 225,202, dated March 2, 1880,
Application ined october 16, 1879.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM N. WYL1E,of Black River Falls, in the county ot' Jackson and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes- Slides and I do hereby declare that the fol lowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to' the accompanying' drawings, which form a part ot' this specification.
Figure I is a perspective view, showing the device in position for use; and Fig. 2 is alongitudinal sectional view.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
This invention relates to an improved laundry utensil, the object of which is to enable clothes to be transferred from the wash-boiler to the tub without the splashing and spilling which usually attend this operation; and it consists of a slide provided with a rim or collar, by which it may be fitted to the washboiler, side guides or flanges, and a suitable pivoted support, all as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
The slide A, which constitutes my present invention,- is bent near its upper end at B, so as to be more readily fitted to the wash-boiler whilethe latter is standing upon the stove. The outer edge of the upper end has a c0ncave edge, C, around which is placed a downward-projectin g collar, D, adapted to tit in the wash-boiler against the edge of the latter.
The sides of the slide for its entire length are provided with Ilanges E, projecting upwardly, as shown, so as to guide the clothes in their transfer from the boiler to the tub, which latteris placed upon the floor under the lower end of the slide, as represented in Fig. 1. Upon its under side the slide is provided with a suitably-constructed hinged or pivoted support, F, upon which it rests when. in use, and which, when not in use, may be folded up against the under side of the slide, as represented in Fig. 2 of 'the drawings.
The operation of my invention will be readily understood from the foregoing description and by reference to the drawings hereto al1- neXed.
Ihe clothes-slide, as I term it, may be manufactured at a small expense. It is so constructed that `a large number of them may be easily nestedl together for transportation. It is simple, durable, and convenient for the purpose t'or which it is intended.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent ot the United States- The slide A B, having collar D, flanges E, and pivoted support F, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM N. WYLIE.
Witnesses ANDREW HoLMsoN, En. Down.
