Schwcinturt, Work m:
Gannstatt, Germany, a corporation of Germany Application December 21, 1939, Serial No. 310,308 In Germany January 4, 1939 2 Claims.
flhis invention relates to spindles used on spinning or twisting machines and more particularly to tubular upper parts of such spindles, held by the spindle blade, and leaving a free space between blade and tube.
Spindle upper parts are known which consist of tubes connected rigidly with the whirl of the spindle or consisting in one piece with the whirl itself. In the latter case such upper parts are called tubular whirls. The disadvantaged such designs is the difliculty to manuiacturethem with enough accuracy, so as to produce a true running spindle.
The usual way of putting it Wooden plug upon the spindle blade has the drewhoch that the wood due to its nature is inclined to not warped by the change of heat and humidity.
The present, invention intends to avoid such oiimculties in appiying a tubular metallic upper part for the spindle, supported by the whirl and the spindle blade.
The nature oi the invention will be understood more clearly irom the drawing and the accompnnying description, showing a preferred torm oi the invention. a
In the drawing:
lfig. l is o. view oi the improved spindle upper part illustrated partly in section.
Fig. 2 is an axial, sectional view illustrating the middle oi an upper port, consisting oi two tubules ports.
Fig. 3 is a vertical, sectional partial view oi another term oi spindle upper part.
The present improved upper part comprises, in
general, on entail support or spindle blade and a tubular part held between the whirl and a button connected with the spindle blade. The connection for all those parts is made by a press flt.
Referring to the drawing e designates the central support or spindle blade for the tubular upper part a, consisting 0! a metallic tube, made or steel or light metal. This tube is preferably shaped to conical form, in order to be able to carry paper or cardboard tubes and the like in the usual way. The tube a, at its lower end ispressed upon the neck b of the whirl c. At or near its upper end 12, the tube is held by the button I, which in turn is pressed upon the end of the spindle blade c.
Thus a not too heavy, but anyhow rigid spindle upper part is being obtained. The outer part of the spindle may be turned or ground in order to obtain a true rimning.
In case the spindle upper. part should exceed a certain length, it may be advantageous to use two pieces of tubeslnstead of one only. Fig. 2 shows partially such an upper part consisting of one tube a and another tube .01, connected by the button a, fixed upon the spindle blade. The lower connection of the tube a with the whirl and thein some cases it may be oi advantuge to fill the inner space it oi the tubes with u. material of damping character, such as cork, rur or similar material.
While the device is herein shown and described as embodied in n preferred form, it is to be understood that the invention my be ernimt ed in other forms without slotting from the spirit oi the invention.
Having thus described my invention, whet ll sin is: I
l. A song or twisting spindle comprising n central supmrt, a whirl connected to one end oi the support, having an extension, a button connected to the other end of the support and a central body connectedto the support, a tubular body connected to said whirl extension, the button'and the said central body, said tube, consisting of two parts having their dividing line located at said central body.
2.. A spinning or twisting spindle comprising a central support, a button connected to the upper end of said support, a tubular body extending over said button and support and extending in the other direction beyond said button and means for closing the end of the tube.
