'UNITED ISTATES, PATENT OEEIGE.
LEHMAN AARONS, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEIVIENT IN BELTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No; 222,434, dated December 9, 1879 application filed July 15, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEHMAN AARoNs, of
Y Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, and
in the State of Wisconsin, have invented an Improved Belt for Overcoats or other Garments 3 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of the same, in
` in the Way when unbuckled; and it consists in a belt composed of a tube of cloth and an `inner strap of three sections, the central section of which shall be of elastic material.
A represents the tubular portion, Which'is to be attached to the garment at a a and b; c c, the elastic portion or section of thestrap, `which is sewed -into the portion Aat b. To I' this elastic portion or section I attach the sec- `V tions B B of the strap, which sections protrude sufficiently for theattaohment of the buckles when the belt is not in use; but when it is desired to buckle the belt around the body these sections B B may be drawn out and made to meet.
Thus it will be seen that I provide a belt which will be always in ay convenient position for buckling, and yet will not dangle behind or at the sides when unbnckled, and, as the elastic section is always concealed, will have the appearance of the ordinary belt.
I am aware that the waist-strap of overalls has been made with elastic sections at its meeting-points; but such aconstruction is unsightly, as it leaves the elastic exposed, and such l do not Claim; but
What I do claim is- The combination, in a belt for overcoats and other garments, of the outer tubular portion, A, and inner sectional portion, B B, the inner ends, c c, ot" which are elastic, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 26th day of May, 1879.
LE HMAN AARONS.
