' 4 Claims.
'This invention relates to 1 improvements in paper-packs and more particularly to a cardboard boxcontainer from which sheets of paper may be individually withdrawnas and when needed.
Typewriting and letter-head paper is usually sold inexpensive boxes and cartons, when opened for use, and the paper placed inthe desk drawer of thetypist, results in a certain-waste of, paper due to soiling caused by dust, and the acciden tal bending ofthe corner edges and general wrinklingl -It is therefore one of the mainobjects of this-inventionto provide a cardboard container in which the paper may be packaged, the pack placed in the desk drawer, and the sheets withdrawn from the pack as the demand arises. By this means of packaging the sup ply of typewriting paper, the same is protected against soiling and the loss caused thereby is eliminated.
Another feature of the invention resides in a paper pack in which the next sheet to be withdrawn is always positioned within reach of the fingers of a .user to expeditate the withdrawal thereof.
Another feature of the invention is the provision of a paper dispensing pack which is simple and inexpensive of construction so as to reduce the. cost of a pack of paper sheets over that of the usual packaging method.
Other features of the inventionwill become apparent as the following specification is read in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in
which:
Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of a form of the invention.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary vertical transverse sectional view on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing by referencecharacters, there is shown a box-like container designated in its entirety by the reference numeral 20 and which is of rectangular configuration and includes a bottom wall 2 I, a front Wall 22, a rear wall in the form of a closure flap 23, and a top wall 24, together with side walls 25. The top front corner edge of the container 20 is provided with a slot 26, while the top wall 24' is provided with a notch 21 and the front wall with an alined notch 28. The paper pack C which is packed into the box-like container 20 rests upon a cardboard backing D. The bottom wall 2| adjacent the forward end thereof is provided with a pair of spaced longitudinally extending slots 29 through which the legs 30-30 of an inverted U-shaped cardboard member 3| extend.'
(Cl. 206-52) The bridge portion. of the inverted U-shaped member 3| supports the forward end of the paper pack C and the cardboard backing D rests directly upon the bridgeportion of the member 3 I. vIt will thus be seen that the member 3| acts as a prop for supporting the front of'the paper pack C and the weight thereof causes the front end of the pack to be lifted upwardly against the top wall 24, said pack being disposed at an angle with respect to the parallel top and bottom walls Hand 24; As the thickness of the paper pack C'diminishe's, the forward end'of the container body gradually drops and the member '35 extends further into the container, thus the prop member 3! may be folded flat against the bottom wall 2! as illustrated in dotted lines in Figure 2 of the drawing. As the level of the paper pack C gradually lowers, the legs 30-30 may be swung to the position shown in full lines in Figure 2, whereupon the prop member, 3| is ready to perform its function of lifting the front end of the paper pack upwardly. 7
By the use of my invention a paper pack may be packaged in the cardboard container, and the pack may remain in the container and the sheets individually dispensed as and when needed. The sheets of the pack are therefore protected against soiling and against wrinkling and creasing. Due to the inexpensive construction of the dispensing container, the same may be disposed of after the contents of the container have been exhausted.
Having thus described the invention, what i claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
1. A paper sheet dispensing pack comprising a rectangular box-like container adapted to contain a supply of paper sheets arranged in'stack formation, the top front corner edge of said container having a dispensing slot therein extending the width thereof, the front and top walls of said container being provided with alined notches communicating with said slot, and an inverted U-shaped member having its leg portions extending through slots in the bottom wall-of said container forwardly thereof and adapted to support the weight of the front end of a pack of paper sheets to urge the front end of the pack of sheets upwardly to always position the top sheet of the pack within reach of the thumb and forefinger of the hand of a user when inserted through said notches to withdraw the top sheet through the dispensing slot.
2. A box for the packaging of paper sheets and for facilitating the easy individual withdrawal of the sheets therefrom comprising a rectangular box-like body having a bottom wall, side walls, and a top wall, the front top corner edge of said body having a dispensing slot therein extending the width of the corner edge, notch means in the front end of said body opening into said slot to facilitate the insertion of a finger or thumb of a human hand, and an inverted U-shaped member having its leg portions extending through slots provided in said bottom wall forwardly thereof and adapted to support the weight of the front end of a pack of paper sheets to urge the front end of the pack of sheets upwardly to always position the top sheet of a pack within reach of the thumb or finger of the hand of a user when inserted through said notch means to withdraw the top sheet through the dispensing slot.
3. A box for the packaging of paper sheets and for facilitating the easy individual withdrawal of the sheets therefrom comprising a rectangular box-like body having a bottom wall, side walls, and a top wall, the front top corner edge of said body having a dispensing slot therein extending the width of the corner edge, notch means in the front end of said body opening into said slot to facilitate the insertion of a finger or thumb of a human hand, and an inverted U-shaped memher having its leg portions extending through slots provided in said bottom wall forwardly thereof, a stiff fiat follower member having its forward end resting upon said U-shaped member and its rear portion supported by the bottom.
wall of said body, whereby a pack of paper sheets may be supported upon said follower member and the front end thereof will be successively fed to a position in alinement with said slot to facilitate individual withdrawal of the sheets from the body.
4. A paper sheet dispensing pack comprising a rectangular shaped box-like body having a bottom wall, side walls, and a top wall, the top front corner edge of saidbody having a dispensing slot therein extending the width thereof, notch means provided in the front of said body which communicates with said slot, an inverted U-shaped member having a fiat bight portion and folding legs, the bottom wall of said body.
having spaced slots therein, the ,legs of the I U-shaped member extending through the respec-
