Description

Aug. 27, 1935. M. D. TRABULSI CIGARETTE HOLDER Filed Dec. 15, 1954 Patented Aug. 27, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a cigarette holder. An object of the invention is to provide a holder for cigarettes, and the like, which is of such construction and shape that the cigarette 6 and particularly the lighted end thereof will be held out of contact with the support for the holder when the lighted cigarette is temporarily laid aside.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cigarette holder designed to be used by cigarette users which is of such shape that both ends thereof will be elevated above the holder support to the end that the lighted end of the cigarette in the holder will not come into contact with the support, for example, an article of furniture, and burn and mar the same, and the mouthpiece of the holder will not collect dust, dirt, or other foreign matter, from the support.
The primary purpose of the invention is to provide a holder which is so shaped that when it is placed on a table or other article of fumiture, the cigarette in the holder will be maintained out of contact with the supporting surface and will not injure the surface of the furniture supporting the holder.
A further object of the invention is to provide a cigarette holder which is so shaped that it will readily maintain its intended position and will not be readily turned over.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts, and use, an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:-
Figure 1 shows a plan view of the holder.
Figure 2 shows a side view thereof illustrating a lighted cigarette in the holder, and
Figure 3 shows a cross-sectional view taken on the line 3--3 of Figure 2.
In the drawing the numeral i designates the holder as a whole which is arcuate in general contour and whose convex side has the relatively fiat face 2.
The holder may be made of any suitable material, preferably hard rubber or the like. At one end, the holder is formed with a mouthpiece 3 and at its other end the holder is provided with an enlarged socket 4 to receive the end of the cigarette 5. Leading from the socket through the holder and through the mouthpiece 3 thereof, there is a channel 6 for draft purposes.
The holder is so balanced that when, in use, with a cigarette therein, and when temporarily laid aside on a table or other article of furniture, as I, with the hat face 2 resting on the supporting surface, the ends of the holder will be maintained spaced above said surface and the cigarette will not come into contact with the surface so that the lighted end thereof will burn or mar the surface. The mouthpiece 3 also will be maintained above said surface so as not to collect dust, dirt, or other foreign matter on the supporting surface.
The face 2 is of sufficient width to maintain the holder in its normal or upright position so that it cannot be readily overturned on its side to bring the lighted end of the cigarette into;
contact with the supporting surface.
What I claim is:-
A cigarette holder having a socket at one end and a draft/channel extending lengthwise from said socket to the other end of the holder, and a mouthpiece at said other end, said holder being of arcuate formation and having a flat supporting face on its convex side.
MICHEL D. TRABULSI.
