Description

Feb. 26, 1935. B. SCHO ENBERGER v BLOUSE AND SLIP COMBINATION Filed Feb. 20, 1953 Patented Feb. 26, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
This invention relates to a blouse and slip combination and has for an object to provide an improved blouse and slip combination for use as wearing apparel by a woman wherein the upper 5 part of the apparel will serve as a blouse and the lower part of the apparel will serve as a slip to go under the skirt. 4
A further object of this invention is to provide a slip and blouse combination wherein the slip is made an indivisible part and extension of the blouse and serves to hold the blouse securely under the skirt of the wearer.
An additional .object of this invention is to provide a slip and blouse combination wherein a blouse and a slip are made as a single piece of apparel, the material of the blouse being cut straight while the material of the slip is cut on the bias.
with the foregoing and other objects in view, as will hereinafter become apparent, this invention comprises the constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, hereinafter set forth, disclosed and shown on the accompanying drawing. In this drawing,
Figure 1 is a front view of the combination blouse and slip, the broken lines representing the skirt worn over the slip.
Figure 2 is a back view of the same.
There is shown at a blouse which extends below the waistline 11, the extension 12 being triangular in outline. Stitched to the extension 12 of the blouse 10 as at 13 are pieces of material forming a slip 14. A skirt shown in dot-dash outline is intended to be worn over the slip 14 whereby the slip 14 serves to hold the blouse 10 in position and prevent it from slipping out from under the waistline 11 of the skirt 15.
As will be apparent from the drawing in actual use the blouse 10 and skirt 15 will appear to the observer in the usual manner as though they were separate pieces with the blouse 10 apparently ending at the skirt waistline 11, but as a result of the slip 14 being integrally secured to the extension 12 of the blouse 10 it is impossible for the blouse 10 to slip out from under the waistline 11 45 of the skirt 15, thus preserving a neat and comfortable appearance. The blouse 10 will preferably be made with the thread running at a straight cut so that the blouse 10 will have a conventional appearance, but the slip 14 will preferably be made with the thread running on a bias cut, thus helping in retaining the shape both of the slip and the blouse. Although one form of sewing the slip to the blouse has been shown, it should 5 be understood that the slip maybe secured to the blouse as an integral part thereof in any convenient manner, and it is not necessarily limited to be secured to triangular extension of the blouse.
The novel features and the operation of this 10 device will be apparent from the foregoing description. While the device has been shown and the structure described in detail, it is obvious that this is not to be considered limited to the exact form disclosed and that changes may be made 15 therein within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of this invention, what is claimed is:
1. An article .of apparel, comprising an upper 0 body covering part and a slip part, the upper part being of material set straight, triangular sections on opposite sides extending from said upper part to below the waist line, said triangular sections forming V -shaped recesses at the front and 25 at the back of said upper part, said slip part bein of material set on a bias, said slip part being integrally secured to said upper part along the edges of said V-shaped recesses between said triangular sections of said upper part whereby to provide a one-piece garment wherein the lower part thereof may stretch on the bias without effecting the fit of the upper part.
2. An article of apparel comprising an upper body covering part and a slip part, the upper part being of material set straight, sections on opposite sides extending from said upper part to below the waist line, said sections forming V-shaped recesses at opposite sides of said upper part, said slip part being of material set on a bias, said slip part being integrally secured to said upper part along the edges of said V-shaped recesses between said spaced sections of said upper part whereby to provide a one-piece garment wherein the lower part thereof may stretch on the bias without effecting the fit of the upper part.
