IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-CLAMPS FOR BEDSTEADS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 198,443, dated December 18, 1877; application filed March 17, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FERDINAND W001)- WARD, of Sacramento city, county of Sacramento, and State of California, have invented certain Improvements in Bedsteads.
The following description, taken in connection with the accompanying plate of drawings, hereinafter referred to, forms a full and exact specification, wherein are set forth the nature and principles of the invention, by which the same may be distinguished from others of a similar class, together with such parts thereof as are claimed as new and are desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States.
My invention relates to bedsteads; and the nature thereof consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same, hereinafter shown and described.
In the accompanying plate of drawings, in which corresponding parts are designated by the same letters, Figurelis an elevation, showin g the foot-board raised. Fig. 2 is a side view, showing the foot-board lowered.
The foot-board A is hinged to the foot-rail B, and provided with slots at a, for the reception of the catch-springs b b, which are pivoted to the said rail B, and work against rubber pads d, placed in slots cut for their reception.
The covering of the bed, when the said footboard is raised, may be caught between the cross-bar D, secured to uprights H, and the cross-bar K, attached to the foot-board, in such a manner as to be held securely in position.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States The combination of the foot-board A, provided with slots at a, the foot-rail B, to which the foot-board is hinged, the catch-springs b, pivoted to the rail B, the cross-bar D, uprights H, and cross-bar K, all as and for the purposes described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 5th day of March, 1877.
