In packaging razor blades according to the prevalent practice, each blade is wrapped in a folder of oiled or other moisture-repellent paper,l

and thus wrapped is encased in an envelope. A plurality of the blades thus treated, usually multiples of flve or ten of the blades, is sealed up in a cardboard box to produce the completed sales package. l

In preparing a blade so Wrapped for use in a blade holder, it is necessary totake the encased blade from its cardboard box, remove envelope, and finally strip from it the paper wrapper referred to. Obviously, these operations are more or less tedious, particularly when one is in a hurry, and the envelope and Wrapper referred to must be disposed of in some manner,A

which often constitutes something of a nuisance. Moreover, in removing the wrapper the cutting edges of the blade are apt to be dulled by the sliding of the wrapper over them. n i

Furthermore, no provision is made in razor blade packages of the kind referredto, for disposal of used blades, and although insome washrooms and bathrooms, such as those in sleepingcars, hotels andA clubs, wall slots and similar means are provided for disposal of used blades, the bathrooms of private homes or residences are seldom provided with any such means, and

the disposalof used blades constitutes quite a problem.

The present invention relates to a package for razor blades in which the blades may be packed without the use of the customary oiled or other paper wrappers and envelopes, and in which- -means are provided for disposal of the used blades.

The invention consists in a package for razor blades, particularly safety razor blades of the now familiar double-edged type provided with offstanding portions at their ends; this package comprising a box having a bottom, a cover, and

a side wall forming the sides and ends of the box, the box being provided at one end adjacent to its bottom with an aperture preferably in the form of a relatively narrow slot of sufficient exteni; to permit the passage through it of a blade, and through which the used blades `may be successively inserted into the box beneath a stack `of unused or new blades contained therein. 4The box is so designed, moreover, that its sides are spaced apart at a distance greater than the breadth of a lrazor blade between its cutting edges, and the ends of the box are provided with offsets to receive the offstanding portionsl of the blade ends to so position thev blades within the box that their cutting edges do not contact with the box sides and are therefore guarded against injury. Moreover, the bottomof the box carries means whereby when a used blade is inserted in the box it cannot escape therefrom through the it from its (Cl. 20G-16) slot. And the invention consists further in the provision of a separator or follower member of a particular form and having particular characteristics, inserted in such position in the box as to separate the unused from the used blades, all as will be explained hereinafter more fully and finally claimed.

As hereinbefore indicated. the package cornprises a box having a bottom 1, a cover 2, and a side wall preferably integral with the bottom and upstanding therefrom to provide the sides 3 and ends '4 of the box.

The cover 2 is preferably suitably hinged, as indicated at 5, to one side of the box and is provided with a spring or snap catch 6 for engagement with an offstanding lug 7 formed upon the opposite side of the box.

A package for safety razor blades, comprising a box having a bottom, a cover, and a side wall, said side wall providing sides and ends tor the box, said box adapted to receive a plurality of blades in stacked relation, one end of said box provided with a slot adjacent to the box bottom and through which used blades may be inserted into the box, a plurality of lugs provided in the bottom of said box and projecting into the box 'to a height greater than the slot opening, said lugs adapted to support the used blades inserted into the box in such position that they cannot escape through said slot, and a separator member arranged at the bottom of the stack of unused blades and adapted to separate the unused blades from the used blades.

A package for safety razor blades, comprising a box having a bottom, a cover, and a side wall, said side wall providing sides and ends for the box, said box adapted to receive a plurality of blades in stacked relation, one end of said box provided with a slot adjacent to the box bottom and through which used blades may be inserted into the box, a plurality of lugs provided in the bottom of said box and integral therewith and projecting into the box to a height greater than the slot'opening, said lugs adapted to support the used blades inserted into the box in such position that they cannot escape through said slot, and a separator member arranged at the bottom of the stack of unused blades and adapted to separate the unused blades from the used blades.

A package for safety razor blades, comprising a box having a bottom, a cover, and a side wall, said side Wall providing lsides and ends for the box, said box adapted to receive a plurality of blades in stacked relation, one end of said box provided with a slot adjacent to the boit bottom and through which used blades may beinserted I into the box, a plurality of lugs provided in the bottom of said box and projecting into the box to a height greater than the slot opening, said lugs adapted to support the used blades inserted into the box in such position that they vcannot escape through said slot and so formed as to provide cam surfaces upon which the blades thus inserted maybe guided to appropriate position within the box, and a separator member arranged at the bottom of the stack of unused blades and adapted to separate the unused blades from the used blades.

A package for safety razor blades of the double-edged .type provided at their ends with offstanding portions, said package comprising a box adapted to receive a plurality of blades in through which used blades may be inserted into the box, the portions of the box ends adjacent i to said offsets being curved in contourand merging into the offsets and into the sides of the box,

`whereby a blade inserted through said aperture will have its offstanding end portions so guided as to register with the offsets of the box ends.

8. A package for safety razor blades, comprising a box adapted to'receive a plurality of blades in stacked relation, means whereby used blades may be inserted Within the box adjacent to the stacked blades therein, and a separator member fitting closely within the box and contacting with the sides and ends thereof and so positioned as to separate the used blades from the unused blades, said separator member due to its contact with the sidesand ends of the box preventing possible transmission of' moisture around its edges from the used blades to the unused blades.

9. A package for safety razor blades, comprising Va box adapted to receive a plurality of blades in stacked relation, means whereby used blades may be inserted within the box adjacent to the stacked blades therein, and a separator member fitting closely within the box and contacting with the sides and ends thereof and so positioned as to separate the used blades from the unused blades, said separator member treated with a moisture-repellent material and due to its contact with the sidesand ends of the box preventing possible transmission of moisture around its edges from the used blades to the unused blades.

A package for safetyrazor blades, comprising a box having a bottom, a cover, and a side wall, said side wall providing sides and ends for the box, said slides of the box formed with inwardly-projecting guards, said box adapted to receive a plurality of blades in stacked relation, one end of said box provided with an aperture through which used blades may be inserted into the box adjacent to its bottom, and means providedin the bottom of the box for supporting the used blades in such position relatively thereto that they cannot escape through said aperture after insertion into the box.
