To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. BED- WELL, of Overton, in the county of Cooper and State of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Portable Corn-Crib, of whichthe following is a specification:

The object of my invention is to provide a corn-crib which may be set up or taken down and transported from place to place with facility.

Referring to the drawing, A A are end pieces, which are composed of vertical posts a a', the transverse bars b, the vertical slats c, and the inclined bar or rafter d. To the vertical posts a, casings e, having two sets of eyes, f, are attached near their upper and lower ends. A section, g, which is composed of horizontal bars h and vertical slats t', forms the back of the crib, and is provided with straps j, having eyes, which receive pins that pass through the castings c attached to the posts a. Castings e are attached to the posts a', for receiving the straps j', that are attached to the slatted doors C, and also to the door C', which extends entirely across the crib. When these doors are in place their straps j are retained by pins k, that pass through the said straps j and the castings c,'and by sliding bolts f', which engage the vertical post F. A bar, l, that is notched to receive the transverse bars b, is placed inside of the posts a a', and upon the central bar b of the end pieces. E is a bar that extends through the slatted end pieces A, and is mortised to receive keys m, that bear upon the vertical pieces n a and bind the end pieces of the crib together. A vertical post, F, is placed in front of the crib, and to itis attached a lever, D, that is pivoted at p, and is jointed to a loop, q. G is a vertical post, that is placed at the back of the crib and surrounded by a strap, r, that is connected by a link, s, with a rod, t, that is hooked into the loop q. pivot the posts F G are drawn together. A diagonal brace, u, connects the front and rear near the top. A central rafter, H, is connected, by mortse and tenen, with the upper ends ofthe posts F G. The roof-boards B are placed upon the rafters, and secured at their upper edges by headless nails driven into the rafters. They are also further secured by binding-strips I, which are secured to the boards and rafters by bolts w and by elevis y. To extend the'crib laterally, frontend back sections are secured to the posts a a in the same manner as in the present case, and an additional end piece is placed on each side, and the spaces thus inclosed are covered with roof-boards, the ends of which are beveled or chamfered and slipped under the ends of the boards B, which are also chamfered at their ends upon the under side.

The crib is readily takenv apart by drawing out the hinge-pins, disconnecting the various stays and rods that hold it together, when it may be readily packed in small compass and lt may also be readily set up by first setting up the two ends and the back, then placing the slatted doors and the cross-bar that is inside of the doors, erecting theposts F G', and connecting them by the rods t, putting on the middle rafter, the roof-boards, and, lastof all, the binding-strips by which the roof-boards are secured.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- l. The combination, with the sections A A C G, of the bar E and verticals strips n n, keyed together, as shown and described, for the purpose specified.

2. The combination, with the posts F G of a crib, constructed as described, of the lever D, loop g, rod t, link s, and strap r, substantially as set forth.
