an intermediate layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of impervious material, as foil, containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material, said inner layer either being in the form of an envelope of pervious material containing the exothermic material or a puncturable envelope of impervious material, as foil, containing the exothermic material or a sheet of pervious material impregnated with an exothermic materialf Practical embodiments of my invention are represented in the accompanying drawing, 2 in which:
Fig. 1 represents in perspective, one form of my improved hair waving pad;
Fig. 2 representes in detail perspective, another form of my improved hair waving pad;
and
Fig. 3 represents in perspective, athird form of my improved hair waving pad.
The outer layer 1 of my improved pad is preferably made of any suitable non-absorbent material, as foil, parchment paper, or the like.
Attached to the inner face of this outer layer is an intermediate layer in the form of a puncturable envelope 2 of impervious material, as foil, containing a liquid reagent 3 for the exothermic material.
Attached to the inner face of this intermediate layer is an inner layer containing an exothermic material, which inner, layer is shown in Fig. 1 as comprising an envelope 4 of pervious material containing the exothermic material5, preferably in powdered form. This inner layer in Fig. 2 is shown as comprising a puncturable envelope 6 of impervious material, as foil, containing the exothermic material 5. In Fig. 3 the inner layer is shown as a pervious sheet 7 impregnated with the exothermic material.
In practice, the tress of hair, not shown herein, may be wound in any well known or 65 approved manner, the tress being moistened, either before or after it is wound, with a suitable hair waving solution.
The inner and intermediate layers may then be punctured to permit the liquid reagent 3 to come into contact with the exothermic material. The pad is then wrapped around the wound tress in the usual manner and the exothermic action starts at once. Heat is then set up within the pad suficient to impart a so-called permanent wave to the pre-formed tress without requiring application of heat from an outside source.
It is evident that various changes may be resorted to in the construction, form and arrangement of the several parts without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not intend to be limited to the particular embodiments herein shown and described, but
What I claim is:
1. A hair waving pad comprising an outer layer of non-absorbent material, an inner layercontaining an exothermic material and an intermediate layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of impervious material con taining a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
2. A hair waving pad comprising an outer layer of non-absorbent material, an inner layer in the form of anenvelope of pervious material containing an exothermic material and an intermediate layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of impervious material containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
3. A hair waving pad comprising an outer layer of non-absorbent material, an inner layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of impervious material containing an exothermic material and a puncturable envelope of impervious material containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
4. A hair waving pad comprising an outer layer of non-absorbent material, an inner 199 layer in the form of a pervious sheet impregnated with an exothermic material and an intermediate layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of impervious materia containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
5. A hair waving pad comprising an outer layer of foil, an inner layer containing an exothermic material and an intermediate layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of foil containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
6. A hair waving pad comprising an outer layer of foil, an inner layer in the form of a pervious envelope containing an exothermic material and an inner layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of foil containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
7 A hair waving pad comprising an outer layer of foil, an inner layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of foil containing an exothermic material and an intermediate layer in the form of a puncturahle envelope of foil containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
8. A hair waving pad comprising an outer layer of foil, an inner layer in the form of a pervious sheet impregnated with an exothermic material and an intermediate layer in the form of a puncturable envelope of foil containing a liquid reagent for the exother mic material.
