(z 4 w v f p yiiiiit'd'afwwm" Patented July 12, 1932 UNITED STATES CARL THEODOR B'll'CHNER, OF RUDOLSTADT, GERMANY CONTAINER FOR TOILET PREPARATIONS Application filed August 2, 1930, Serial No..472,706, and in Germany August 8, 1929.
My invention relates to improvements in containers for toilet preparations, and more particularly in containers for ingredients used in baths. The object of the improvements is to provide a container which is made from hard soap so that it can be used for washing after the contents have been used. The toilet preparations kept within the said container may be difi'erent in character. For
' example, the container may be provided with a chamber containing a powder, in which case the lid of the said chamber is provided with apertures extending therethrough for spreading the powder. Further, the lid itself may be provided externally with a cavity adapted to be closed by a plate, for receiving another preparation, such for example as an ointment. The container may be provided with a plurality of separate chambers, and it may be constructed so that it may be readily broken into sections each containing one of the said chambers.
Further features of the invention will be apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a sectional View through a container embodying the principles of the i nvention; and
Figure 2 is a sectional view of a slightly modified form of the invention.
In the construction shown in Figure 1 of the drawing, the container is in the form of a hollow cylinder at having a partition 6 dividing the same into two chambers r and r each adapted to receive a toilet preparation,
and each provided with a lid. The lid 6 of the chamber T has a body portion 6 adapted to project into the chamber, the outer portion J of the lid being provided with a cavity 4) which may be closed by a plate 39. The lid is adapted to be fixed in position by means of a wire or cord to passed through the body 6 of the lid. The lid d of the space 1' is formed with bores f adapted to be closed by a plate p If desired the lid (5 may be similarly fixed in position by means of a wire or cord to. The said wire or cord may be provided with a seal or other identifying mark preventing non-authorized use of the contents of the container.
The chamber r is filled with a suitable powder or salt, which may flow out through the bores. f after the plate p has been re- 55 .tions each containingone of the'chambers r orv T for which purpose it may be provided I with a circumferential indentation or groove f, whereby the sections may be readily severed, for instance by turning one section with respect to the other.
The container is used as follows: 7 V The chamber 1 may be filled with pine needle powder, and after removing the lid 19 it is immersed in a bath so that the water passes intothe chamber through the holes 7 'and dissolves the salt contained therein. The chamber 7 maycontain a. viscous substance to be used as an ingredient of the bath or to be applied to the'skin. The contents of the chamber 41 may be used in a similar way. i If the container and its lids b and d are made from soap they may be used for washing after the contents have been removed. I wish it to be understood that the container may be made from any kind of hard soap or from a medical soap. Further, substances otner than those hereinbeforementioned may be placed in the several chambers.
Under some circumstances'it is desirable to provide a means of communication be- 7 tween the chambers r and W.
This may be conveniently effected in the manner shown in Figure 2 of the drawings in which the lid 7) carries a pin it extending generally axially :of the container, this pin being preferably fixed to the lid. The partition 6 is provided 5 with an aperture 2' through which the pin extends, and it will be seen that when the lid 6 is placed in position on the container the passage between the chambers r and 1' is effectively closed by the pin b. When the lid is withdrawn, communication is established between the chambers T1 and 1 so that the substance placed in the chamber r may pass into the chamber 1 and be ejected through the bores f.
As shown in Figure 1 ofthe drawings a circumferential indentation f may be provided externally of the container in a plane passing through the partition 6 whereby the container may be readily separated into two sections, each chamber remaining intact.-
I claim:
1. A container made from hard soap and formed with a plurality of separate chambers for toilet preparations lids for closing said chambers, and means for. providing intercommunication between said chambers.
2. A container comprising an elongated hollow body made from hard soap and formed with a partition dividing the same into separate chambers, and lids for closing said chambers, the exterior surface of said container being formed around said partition with an indentation permitting the same to be broken apart said partition being of CARL THEODOR BllCHNER.
sufiicient thickness to ensure that each chamber will remain intact after the container is broken. v
3. A container made from hard soap and having a chamber adapted to receive a toilet preparation, a lid for closing said chamber being formed at its outerside with a cavity, and a cover for said cavity.
4. A container made from hard soap and having a chamber adapted to receive a toilet preparation, and a lid for closing said chamber, said lid being formed with bores.
5. A container made from hard soap and formed with a plurality of separate chambers for toilet preparations, a partition separating said chambers, lids for closing said chambers, and means for providing intercommunication between said chambers comprising an element adapted to be embedded in said partition and subsequently to be withdrawn therefrom so as to leave an open ing therethrough.
6. A container made from hard soap and formed with a plurality of separate chambers for toilet preparations, a partition separating said chambers, lids for closing said chambers, and means for providing intercommunication between said chambers comprising an element carried by one of said lids, said partition being provided with an aperture through which the said element extends when the lid is in position on the container.
7. A container made from hard soap and formed with a plurality of separate cha1n bers for toilet preparations, a partition separating said chambers, said partition being provided with an aperture communicating with said chambers, said container being provided with bores therethrough communicatmg with one of said chambers, a remov-
