HEADREST FOR TELOPHONE'S Filed July 10. 1931 Fatented July '5, 1932' PATENT OFFICE Enron xomesnnnenn, cranes Lao, GERMANY nzaanansr Eon rnnnrnonns Application filed July 10, 1931, Seria1 30.
ends of these bows. These head holders are designed to facilitate the transmission 'orreceiving of long telephone messages, the user ofthe telephone having his hands free for writing down the messages. m The head rest for telephones according to the invention differs from the commonly used devices of known type in that the holding device proper consists of a box adapted to be closed in outward direction by a lid 1 part, designed to be laid against the ear of the user. and open in this direction, the
internal dimensions of the box corresponding approximately to the dimensions of the earpiece of the telephone, the side wall of the 29 box'being cut out in the front portion so that the cut out portion extending from the outer rim of the box corresponds to the thickness of the telephone handle. When the earpiece of the telephone has been placed into the box and when this box has been closed. the telephone is securely held in the correct position for talking and hearing. The telephone can be easily removed from the head rest and put back. As no screws or other fixing means have to be operated to place the telephone into the head rest or to remove it from this head rest, these manipulations are facilitated and can be carried out very rapidly.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig. 1 shows the head rest in perspective view.
Fig. 2 shows the head rest on a head in the position of use.
The head rest for telephones consists of a bowl to be placed transversely on the head and of a bow 2 hingedly connected to the how 1 and designed to be placed on the neck.
The transverse bow is composed of a middle 549,895, and in Germany March 3, 1980.
part 1', 1" respectively, so that by means of these knobs 4 the end parts can be shifted. The neck bow 2 consists of a covered spiral spring. y
The end parts 1, 1" of the head bow carry each a holderfor the earpiece 5 of the telephone having a handle 6 and a mouthpiece 7. The holder consists of a box shaped hollow cylinder having a bottom plate 9 with central aperture 8 and a side wall 10. In this side 50 wall a portion 11 is cut out extending downwards from the outer edge. The holder is of such .size that it can accommodate the earpiece 5 of the telephone, the handle 6 of the telephone being then located in the cut out portion 11, as shown in Fig. l. The earpiece 5 of the telephone is then pressed against the ear by the action of the resilient bows 1 and 2. the mouthpiece 7 of the telephone being in front of the mouth of the user. To securely 0 hold the telephone in this position the holder proper may be closed by a cover. This cover consists of a strap 13 on the inner side of which a coiled spring 12 is fixed. The strap 13 is shown in Fig. 1 on the left side in the lifted position and on the right side in the lowered or closing position. When the strap 13 is in the closing position the spring 12 is put under tension and, exerting pressure upon the earpiece in the holder, secures the earplece in the correct position. Any suitable fixing means such as a press button or the like may be provided for securing the strap 13 in the closing position.
The telephone can be placed in the right hang. holder or in the left hand holder as de- SlIe The box shaped holders, and if possible other parts of the head rest, are made of leather to make the same as light as possible. The box shaped holders are preferably lined with soft material.
I claim A head rest for a micro-telephone, comprising in combination with an adjustable head band adapted to be placed over the head of the user, a hollow cylindrical 'box adapted to hold the ear piece of a micro-telephone consisting of a bottom late with a central aperture, aside wall having a cut out portion to receive the handle of the micro-tale hone and a. cover with a s ring pressing e eer iece ti htly against e bottom plate of said Box an securely holdin the handle in the cut out portion of the si e wall of said box in the correct oeition for use, with the mouth piece before 1: e mouth of the user. i In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
