IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-CHIMNEY CLEANERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 185,138, dated December 5, 1876; application tiled June 6, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JACOB lVIAYER SCHAT- zEL' and GEORGE N IGHOLAS SOHATZEL, of White .House, in the county of Lucas and State ofOhio, have invented an Improvement in Lamp-Chimney Cleaners, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of our invention relates to an improvement in chimney-cleaners of that class wherein a pair of crossed arms or levers have a pad of any soft fabric secured upon the end of each arm, our object being to so construct the device that it will be available for cleaning the outside as well as the inside of the chimney; and tothis end it consists in the pecuiiar construction of the curved arms from a single piece of spring-wire, and the combination therewith of a compressing-ring, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
Figure 1 shows the manner of using the cleaner upon the exterior of a lamp-chimney. Fig. 2 shows the manner of using it on the inside of the chimney.
In the drawing, A represents a piece of sprin gwire bent flat upon itself at the middle of its length, exceptjustat the bend, which is opened a little. Atubularhandle,B,is then slippedover the ends as faras the openingofthe bent middle portion will allow.
