This invention relates to an improvement in folding stools of the lazy tong type in Which one member is supported above another member by means of lazy tongs, the
object of the invention being a simple construction which permits the device to be readily folded so as to pro-vide a convenient package for transportation, and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 is a transverse sectional view of a folding stool constructed in accordance with my invention and shown in the folded position;
Fig. 2 is a similar view With the parts in the open position;
Fig. 3 is a sectional vieuT talren on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2; and
Fig. 4 is a sectional vieW taken on the line 4--4 of Fig. 2, enlarged.
In carrying out my invention, I employ a base l0 and atop or seat 11. These are duplicates of each other and of open box-like type.
In the base, near opposite sides, are located blocks 12 and 13 and inthe top are located similar blocks 14 and l5. rllhese blocks are each formed with slots 16 and 17 which slots terminate in offset notches 18. Lazy tongs 19 and 20 are connected With these blocks by rods or bolts 21 and 22, the links of the tongs being also connected by stays 23.
The bolts or stays 21 and 22 extend through the slots 16 and 17 so as to ride therein and enter the notches 1S, and when the seat is separated from the base, these rods travel through the slots 16 and enter the 40 notches 18, whereby the seat is firmly held in 1931. Serial No. 552,348.
