l'nthe accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a face view of a portion of a structure made in accordance, with the present invention.
Figure 2 is an edge view of the same.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view on the line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a detail sectional view on an enlarged scale and showing more clearly the securing means for the lath.
In the embodiment disclosed, the backing sheet is preferably multiply and comprises a backing layer or ply 5 of relatively heavy cardboard or similar material, a facing sheet 6 of light or thin paper material, and an interposed adhesive material? that is waterproof.
Located over the front face 6 of the back ing sheet are spaced lath rods 8, preferably arranged in parallel relation, and entirely spaced from the backing sheet. They are held in place by posts 9. these posts being independent one of the other, and securing the rods to the backing sheet at intervals. Each post is preferably in the form of a staple with an eye 10 surrounding the rod, shank portions 11 crimped together behind the rod, outstanding base portions 12 that rest against the face of the sheet and constitute an extended bearing, anchor portions 13 that pass through the sheet, and terminal portions 15 that are overlapped and clinched on the rear side of the sheet.
vented by the interposed waterproof layer 7 from passing to the rear ply 5 so that said plydwill not become wet and thereby Weakene From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction, operation and many advantages of the herein described invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art without further description, and it will be understood that various changes in the size, shape, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
What we claim, is:
1. A plaster supporting structure comprising a backing sheet, lath rods located along and in spaced relation to a face of the sheet, and separate spaced posts doubled about the rods and crimped together behind the same, said posts extending through and clinched behind the backing sheet, said posts securing the rods in fixed spaced relation to the backing sheet.
2. A plaster supporting structure comprising a backing sheet, lath rods located along and in spaced relation to a face of the sheet, and separate spaced posts doubled about the rods and crimped together behind the same, said posts havingoutstanding base portions providing extended bearings on the backing sheet and having spaced anchor portions passing into the backing sheet and clinched.
In testimony whereof, I aifix my signature.
