This invention is directed to a toy designed to be operated by a person, and represents a boxing match.

The purpose of this invention is to provide a toy which will be cheap to manufacture and which will afford amusement and enjoyment to all who use it. j

An object of the invention is to provide a toy which is adapted to be operated by two i9 persons acting in opposition to each other,

each controlling the movements of one of the boxers. s Y f A further object of the invention is to provide a toy which will simulate a pair of 5 boxers whose movements are under the direct control of the operators.

A. still further object is to provide such an operating element which requires no particup Ear skill or adreitness which is so necessary in the usual operation of manikins 'and one which a child with a little practice may operate with all the ease of an adult.

A still further object is to provide an opp erating mechanism in which a separate key is provided for the movement of each part of the boxers rather than depending on the haphazard movement of the arms and legs due to movement of the body.

Figure 5 is a detail view of the mechanism. l The invention is designed as a toy and comprises a platform or ring 11 having posts 12 at the corners connected by ropes 13 in imitation. of an ordinary boxing ring.

rlhe boxers 14 and 15 are positioned in approximately the center of the ring and are supported by rods 16 and 17 which are secured to the feet of the figures. The rods 16 and 17 are supported on a bell crank 18 having a tubular sleeve .19 and mounted on a fixed pivot 20. The arm 21 of the bell crank 18 has pivotally secured to one end an operating rod 22 which projects through the platform 11 and terminates in a button 23. `A short projection or arm. 24 integral with the operating rod 22 carries a spring 25 which is secured to the operating box 26 at 27.

By means of the push button, the bell crank is turned on its fixed pivot and lthereby moves the figures back'and forth in an are 28, thereby allowing' the figures to be moved in., and out of reach of eachother. The mecha- 60 nism for one of the figures, is identical with that of the other and the detailed description yfor one is thought sutiicient. Pivotally seeuredto the crank portion is a rod 28 which is guided by the tubular sleeve portion 19 of the bell crank n70 18. The rod 28 passes through an arc-shaped support 29 and is retained in relationship with the support bv an upper washer 30 and a lower washer 31, the upper washer supporting the rod and the lower washer preventing 75 its escape from the support 29. The arc'- shaped support is formed similar to the arcuate opening-28 and is positioned directly below it. Saidsupport'is provided with arms 32 and 33 which are integral with the rocking 80 bar 34. rlhe rocking bar 34 is rotatively mounted ou the fixed pivot 35 but limited in its rotation to the length of the crank 27 and the crank 36 to a very slight oscillation, the crank 36 being connected to the free end of S5 the rocking bar at 37. A crank rod 38 carries the crank 36 and a crank handle 39 which is oscillated to move the bar 34 about its pivot 35 whichl moves the arc-shaped support 29, imparting a vertical motion to the rod 28, 90' causing the arms 25 carrying the boxing gloves 40 to swing on the axle 26. A similar crank handle 41 is similarly connected by mechanism to the'iigure 14.

' In operation, the toy is operated by two 9 persons or players. each operating one figure.

By pressing the buttons 23 and 24, the figures are caused to move in an arc com-ing within reach of one another at portions of .on the are and allowing either to be withdrawn 1W from reach of the other. At appropriate times the crank handles 39 and 40 are rocked, causing the arms to move and the figures to strike each other as boxers.

5 A toy as above described would afford much amusement and enjoyment and could be easily and cheaply produced.

I claim l. A toy comprising a platform having arcuate-shaped openings therein, figures carried above said platform, supports for said figures extending through said openings, means for moving said supports through the paths of the arcuate-shaped openings to move the figures into and out of engagement with eaeh other, andmeans foi-*moving the arms of each of said figures to strike t-he opposing figure.

A platform formedwith arcuate-shaped v -openin'gs, figures having movable arms arranged on the platform, rods for operating the arms extended through said openings, means below the platform for moving said iig- 'ures in the pathA of said arcuate-shaped openl ings, and means for operating said rods, said latter means including an element providing movement of'1 said rods in accordance with movement of the figures in said arcuate? shaped openings without interfering with the 3,0 operation of said rods for the arm control.

A platform formed with arcuate-shaped n openings, figures having movable arms arranged on the platform, rods for operating the arms, said rods extended through said openings, means below the platform for mov- Ving said' figures in the path of said arcuateshaped openings,an arc-shapedsupport for said rods, said support allowing movement of the rods in the path of the arcuate-shaped .4.0 openings, means for rocking said arc-shaped support whereby movement is imparted to the arm operating rods.
