vIMPROVEMENT IN FURNITURE-SPRINGS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 182,745, dated October 3, 1876 application filed september 29, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:

My invention relates to springs adapted for car-seats or car-seat backs, furniture, &c., where a set or number of springs are needed; and it consists in a combination-spring, all ready to be applied at once to the seat, back, or article for whichit is intended, the combination consisting'of a series of dat steel annular springs, a flat metal strap connecting such series, and clasps which unite such strap to each annulus of the series.
Figure l is a perspective view of a combination-sprin g, illustrating my invention; and Fig. 2 a plan of a clasp suitable for securing the parts together.
A represents .a combination-spring, made in accordance with my invention, and in which b indicates the annular springs, each made of a coil or coils of dat steel, 0 the metal connect-` ing-strap, and d the clasps by which the strap is secured to the springs.
The metal strap c may be of any length desired, dependent on the number of annular springs required, and the length. (or breadth, as the case may be) of the frame to which the complete spring is t0 be applied.
The strap cis made to extend far enough beyond the first and the last spring to enable it to be secured to the frame, and for this purpose is preferably provided at its ends with holes for screws, nails, or other fastening device.
The clasps may perform the double duty of securing the ends of each annular spring, and of also securing the strap to the spring; or the ends of each annulus may be riveted'or otherwise secured before the strap and clasps are applied.
I am aware that annular springs have been heretofore used. These, therefore, of themselves, I do not claim.
I claim- In combination, a series of annular springs,A
