UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
FREDERICK A. NEIDER, OF MADISON, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT lN BUCKLE-LOOPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,014, dated August 24, 1875 application filed July 10, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERIGK A. NEIDER, of Madison, in the county of Jefferson and State of Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Buckle-Loop, of which the following is a specification In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a top view, Fig. 2 a vertical longitudinal section on the line 0 0, Fig. l, and Fig. 3 a vertical transverse section on the line :19 x, Fig.2, ofmyimproved buckle-loop and Figs. 4, 5, and 6, respectively, a top view, vertical longitudinal and transverse sections of a modification of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention relates to an improved loop and buckle for carriage back-stays and ourtains; and consists of a flanged buckle-fastenin g plate tacked to the curtain or back-stay, in connection with a sliding box fastened by the flanges and held in position by the buckles.
In the drawing, A represents the buckles, which are attached to the back-stays, curtains, 860., either by a metallic loop-plate, B, that is fastened thereto with tacks clinched at the under side, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3,
or by means of a leather loop tacked by a metal top plate, B, in similar manner, as shown in Figs. 4:, 5, and 6. The longitudinal sides of fastening-plate B are flanged for admitting the slidingon of the buckle-connectin g box by bending down one of the buckles, being retained by the buckles in position, Without a chance of getting detached. The box G has side flanges turned inwardly, that take hold of the flanged plate and bind thereon. In this manner the buckle-loops may be rapidly put on, as the buckle-retaining plate is readily tacked on, and the box then placed easily thereon. This construction is also cheaper than the leather loops in common use.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An improved buckle -loop composed of flanged buckle-fastening plate tacked to the leather parts, in connection with a metallic box sliding and locking thereon, substantially in the manner and for, the purpose set forth. FREDERICK A. NEIDER.
