sroILE'r marrow Application filed June 11,
The present invention relates to the art of toilet articles, andmore especially to an improved case or package containing a plurality of make-up units, such as lip sticks, and
'5 other cosmetic, and one of the purposes of the invention is to provide a casing comprising inner and outer shells, a guide shell and a sliding shell, with means on the interior of the guiding shell arranged in the path of 1 means on a holder pivoted in the sliding shell for tilting the holder into an inclined position, to allow the make-up units to assume an inclined position, whereby the ma be easily grasped and detached from t e ho der.
nother purpose is to provide a caseor package of make-up units, mounted on and carriedb a tiltable holder, and so ositioned in the ho der, that the units are he d spaced, not only one row from an opposite row, but each unit of each row being sp preventing the cosmetic material on the several units from engaging or contacting, thereby preventing such cosmetic material from beingdestroyed or ruptured. For example it to contact with similar material causes the material to rupture, and if in contact long enough, the material eventually melts. Another disadvantage of the material contacting for any length of time results in the material on severalof the units to practically mess up allthe other units, therefore it is essential to keep the units properly spaced.
Another purpose is to provide an improved the various'units, made up from a single blank and constructed to cause pockets to be formed for the reception of the various units, the pockets to be formed when the holder is finally bent into shape, the pockets also being equall and properly spaced to hold the units in Still another purpose is to provide, in a case or package of cosmetic units, a holder, so constructed from a single sheet metal blank as to not only cause the pockets to be formed, but to cause ears to be formed on the ends of the holder, whereby the holder may be pivoted in the sliding shell of the package or case.
A further purpose is to provide a case or aced, thereby has been found that by allowing such material ividually spaced.

package of cosmetic units, such as may be -manu actured for a relatively low cost by die stamping as to permit the package to be dispensed by vending machines now in use fora reasonable price, such as will permit of suflicient profit to warrant such distribution. It is the aim in this character of distribution to install vending machines in ladies rooms of public places, ball rooms and the like, so that the package can be bought and used by each and every lady of a group, and should the remaining units of the package, should there be any, be thrown away, the loss would not amount to much.
A still further purpose is to provide a case or package of this 'kind which is relatively small an compact, and yet the holder in each package, will retain the units individually spaced.
Furthermore it is the aim to provide an improved single blank to support and hold the several units in place comprising opposed grooved-sides, with pieces struck up from the bottom of the holder to oppose the grooves in the opposite sides of the holder, to insure clamping the units in position.
It is to be understood that the particulars herein given arein no way limitative, and that while still keeping within the scope of the invention, any desired modification of details and proportions may be made in the construction of the appliance according to circumstances.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts to be hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.
a sectional view on line 4-4.- of
. formed in ears 6-,
- shell is moved in a modified construcshell, the inner section constituting a sliding shell.
The inner sliding shell is provided with opposite fulcrums 4 for entering openings which form integral parts with the ends of a holder 7, thereby pivotally mounting the holder in the sliding shell.
The holder is constructed from a single blank of sheet metal as shown in the drawings, scored at 8, so that the blank can be folded upon itself to provide for opposite sides 9. These sides 9 are corrugated as shown at 10, the corrugations adapted to receive sticks or make-up units 11, on the free end of each of which a deposit of some suitable cosmetic, such as lip or face rouge or the like, is arrange In order to hold the sticks or units in the corrugations extensions or i overlying lips 12 are struck up from the blank,
which are adapted to fold over and contact with the sticks or units, thereby holding the sticks or units relatively rigid, and in such a manner as to permit each to be withdrawn from its holding means without any great amount of efiort, and without destroying the deposits of cosmetic material. This manner of holding the sticks or units will also retain them individually spiaced, so that the deposits will not contact wit and be injured by each other. Also struck up from the blanks are elongated lugs 13, which, when the sliding the guiding shell, contact with the abutment flange 14 struck up from the wall of the guiding shell, and thereby cause the holder to tilt on an angle, rendering the several sticks or units easily accessible. The bottom of the sliding shell has lateral lugs 15, which bear on the holder, so that in conjunction with the lugs 13 the holder is held centrally positioned, so as to prevent the deosits of cosmetic on the several sticks or units om engaging with the opposite walls of the casin i Re erring to Figures 7 and 8 there is a modified construction of a single blank disclosed, from which a different holder 16 may be constructed. This blank 17 in Figures 7 and 8 is also a die stamp job, and when stamped out, it is formed with tongues 18, which are bent around the sticks or units to hold them in position. Otherwise this blank is formed with the pivoting ears 19, and the opposite In Figure '9 there is a m 5 10a under the loops 1012, that is when the bl having with the opposite with grooves for lugs 13a. and 14a for retaining the holder prl-operly spaced, and for causing the holder to ti 1?.
When the sliding shell is moved inwardl of I the guiding shell the rear end of the sli ing shell is limited in its movement by the lugs 3a, which are struck up and formed integral with the side edges at one end of the guiding shell. odified construction of blank, from which the holder can be constructed. This blank is somewhat similar to that shown in Figure 6,that is it is corrugated as shown at 1011 and loops 10?) are struck up r'rom the blank across the corrugations 10a. The cosmetic units or sticks, to be supported by the holder are inserted in the corrugationlsI an is folded on the scored line 8 to form the holder U-shaped. The blank in Figure 9 is also provided with the lugs 15a serving the same purpose as the lugs 15 in Figures 5 an 6, while the ears 6 act as pivoting means for. the holder,
