G. MARSH.
BAG-HOLDER. No.179,712. Patented. J'u1y11,1876.
WITNlESSES:

PATENT DFFICE,
GIlDEON MARSH, STEAMBURG, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT m BAG-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 179,712, dated July 11,1876; application filed May 22, 1876.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, GIDEON lVIARSH, of Steamburg, in thecounty ot'G-attaraugus and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Bag-Holder, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my improved bag-holder with a grain-bag supported thereon, and Fig. 2 is a side view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention relates to a very simple and convenient bag-holder that may be attached to any bin or other supporting device, for carrying the bag thereon in convenient position for readily shoveling in the grain or other-article.
The invention consists of two separate main standards, with backwardly inclined upper parts, which are adjusted at suitable distance,
according to the width of the bag. The standards are tirmly attached to asuitahle support by fastening-strips and clampingscrews, and arranged with top and side hooks for hanging the bag thereon.
In the drawing, A represents the main standards or supporters, which are made with upper baokwardly curved or inclined parts, being applied, by inner spurs or teeth a and adjustable fastening-strips B, with clampingreadily introduced between the same.
screws 0, to the grain-bin or other suitable support, at such width that the shovel may be The separately-applied standards or holders may, however, be attached at any suitable distance from each other, according to the size and width of the bag to be suspended therefrom. The upper inclined part of each standard A is provided with outwardly-bent hooks b, one at the top end and one below the same, at the side to which the bag is fastened, to be filled by the shovel in the same manner as when aperson holds the bag at both sides for the purpose of having it filled by another.
The convenientapplication of the bag-holder to any place where it is required, together with its simplicity and cheapness, makes it very advantageous for millers, farmers, and others.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The portable bag-holder herein described,
consisting of the standard A, having teeth or spurs a, the fastening-strip B, and clampingscrew 0, to adapt the device for attaclu'nent to a suitable support, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
GIDEON MARSH. 'Witnesses:
JACOB ZABRISKIE WANMAKER, HENRIETTA GEoELIA KNAPP.
