Description

. Q 19307 c. v. CARLSSON 1,783,601
COOKING APPARATUS Filed Oct. 24, 1937 2 Sheets-Shed 1 Dec. 2, 1930. c. v. CARLSSON Y COOKING APPARATUS Filed Oct. 24. 1927 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Patented Dec. 2, 1930 CARL VICTOR CARLSSON, or
UPPLANDS-VASBY, SWEDEN COOKING APPARATUS Application filed October 24, 1927, Serial No.
This invention has for its object the pro vision of an improved cooking apparatus comprising a fuel receptacle, a burner adapted to be enclosed in a box or the like which is preferably provided with a swingable lid, the fuel receptacle being so arranged that it may be moved relatively to the box, to enclose the same in the box or outside the same, so that the receptacle, when the apparatus is in use,
may be freely exposed in its latter position to the surrounding air, and thereby cooled by the air.
An embodiment of the invention isillustrated in the annexed drawing, where Figure 1 is a plan view of the cooking apparatus, the lid being swung upwards and the receptacle being swung outwards,
Figure 2 is a vertical section on the line A to A of Figure 1,
Figure 3 is a vertical section of the apparatus, the lid being swung downwards and the receptacle being swung inwards.
In the drawing 1 is the box provided with a swingablelid 2, 3 is the fuel receptacle and e the two burners to be enclosed in the box. In the shown embodiment one side 5 of the box is adapted to be let down and has on its inner face two supports 6 in which the receptacle 3 is detachably and swingably mounted, for the purpose that, when the said side is let down, the receptacle may be carried with it, whereby the receptacle gets outside'the box 1 and may be freely encircled by the surrounding air. The burners 4 which are firmly connected with the receptacle 3 by the conduct-pipes 7 8 get a reciprocating motion in the box 1 when the side 5 is folded up and down. In order to maintain the burners in their respective extremepositions hooks 9 are provided at the bottom of the box which grasp the conduct-pipe 7 in both extreme positions of same but the said hooks do not prevent the burners and the receptacle from being swung upwards into the desired position nor from being removed, for example at the cleaning of the box when the burners are in their middle position. The said hooks also serve to facilitate the mounting of the burners and the conduct-pipes. On the side of the fuel receptacle 3 facing the burners 4.- there 228,358, and in Sweden September 28, 1927.
is a protecting plate 10 provided with long notches 11 extending inwards from the edges of same through which the screw spindles 12 extending from the burners pass. The said notches serve as supports for the screw spindles and also serve to facilitate the mounting of the burners. A base plate 13 for the boiling vessels is provided in the box 1 in a swingable and detachable manner and is adapted to be moved into and out of supporting position, the said base plate being shaped in such a manner that the fuel receptacle may be swung relatively to the box without the base plate being swung out of its supporting position. Further, the lid 2 of the box'has on its inner face two swingable screens 14 adapted to form a wind-protection for the burners when the lid is swung upwards and the screens are swung outwards (Figure 2) The lid is provided with a swingable hook15 (Figure by which the screens may be kept close to the lid when the same is folded down.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. Cooking apparatus comprising a box, a member forming one side of the box. hinged thereto and arranged to be opened and closed, a receptacle for liquid fuel mounted on said hinged member and movable therewith into and out of the box, a burner arranged in the box, a fuel pipe whereby said burner is connected to and movable with and by said receptacle, and a protector plate also mounted on saidbox member and arranged at the side of'the receptacle nearest the box.
2. Cooking apparatus as claimed in claim 1, including also means to limit the extent of movement of the burner in the box and permit'the removal of the burner from the box.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto signed my name.
CARL VICTOR CARLSSON.
