In the embodied form, the concave or drag 3 travels to and fro between a 'vertical position in cooperation with the core 1 `for casting the plate, and a horizontal position for the delivery of the plate, the latter position being shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings. The drag may be provided with cooling devices, if desired. Y
Means are provided for locking the core and drag together-during the casting operation, and the illustrated form thereof comprises a pair of pins or lugs 4 atrone end, and upon the opposite sides, of the drag and a pair of pins 5 located at the other end of, and upon opposite sides of the drag. Cooperating with the pair of lugs 4, respectively, are a pair of hooks 6, fixed on a. shaft 7, which shaft is positioned transversely to the core and is mounted at the back thereof in bearings upon the machine structure. Co-operating with the pair of pins 5, respectively, are a pair of hooks 8, which are'fixed on a shaft 9, this shaft being likewise located transversely and at tlie'back of the core land being journaled in suitable bearings. Means are provided for causing the two pairs of hooks to move concurrently or simultaneously, and as embodied, an arm 10 is fixed to shaft 7, and an arm`11 is fixed to shaft-9, these two arms being connected together by a link 12.
