CONVENIENT UNION ALLS Original Filed Feb. 15, 1927 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 I v I |--I--""-"""" g V Patented Dec. 3, 1929 UNITED STATES PATEZNT OFFICE CONVENIENT UN ION-ALLS Application filed February 15, 1927, Serial No. 168,362. Renewed April 11, 1929.
This invention relates to garments of that type known as eover-alls or union-alls, and has for one of its objects to provide a garment of this character which shall include a drop seat, a shirt extension underlying the drop seat, and tabs connected to the trousers and shirt extension for the purpose of preventing the shirt extension from working above the drop seat.
A further object of the invention is to provide a garment of the character stated wherein the drop seat may be readily lowered and raised and secured in the latter of said positions.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the nature of which will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists of the, novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a union-alls constructed in accordance with my invention,
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the upper portion of the trousers and the lower portion of the shirt of the unioii-alls, illustrating the drop seat in partly lowered position,
. Figure 3 is a view in rear elevation of the union-alls,
Figure 4 is a view in side elevation of the upper portion of the trousers and the lower portion of the shirt illustrating the drop seat inpartly lowered position, and
Figure 5 is a view in front elevation illustrating a slightly modified form of the belt of the union-alls.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description, and designated in the several views of the accompanyin drawings, by similar reference characters. he union-alls comprises a shirt 1 and trousers 2 of which the proximate edges ofthe front portions are sewed together as indicated at 3. The shirt 1 is provided with pockets 4 and a collar 5, and the open front side thereof is closed by buttons 6. The trousers 2 are provided with hip pockets 7, side pockets 8, and a pocket 9 for the reception of a rule, pencil or the like. The open front side of the trousers 2 is closed by buttons that are hidden by a placket 10.
The upper rear portion of the trousers 2 is free of permanent connection with the back of the shirt'l and the upper front portion of the trousers, whereby to provide a drop seat 11 which may be readily lowered and raised and secured in the latter of said positions by a belt 12. The belt 12 is secured to the upper edge of the drop seat 11, and passes through loops 13 secured to the shirt 1 and trousers 2 at the front of the garment. Straps '14 having the appearance of belt loops, are secured to the drop seat 11 about the belt 12. The belt 12 buckles at the front of the garment as indicated at 15. In Figure 5 of the drawing there is shown a slightly modified form of the belt. This belt 12 is not provided with a buckle, but instead one end thereof is provided with holes 12 for the reception of a button 12 carried by the other end of the belt.
The shirt 1 is provided at its back with an extension 16 which underlies the drop seat 11. The shirt extension 16 is prevented from working above the drop seat 11 by means of,
As it is retained in place by the tabs 17, the shirt extension 16 is prevented from working above the drop seat 11 by forward and downward bending movements of the body of the wearer, with the result that the garment will present a neat appearance, and the back portions of the under garments of the wearer will be fully protected. By freeing the ends of the belt 12 or 12*, the drop seat 11 may be moved into lowered position and thereafter the shirt extension 16 may be moved into its raised position. The garment is adapted for use by men and boys, it is comfortable to wear, and permits free use of the bod and limbs ofthe wearer. It may be rea y applied and removed, and may be made of any suitable cloth of any color.
What is claimed is 1. A garment of the character set forth, comprislng trousers having a drop seat, a shirt having a rear extension underlying the drop seat, tabs secured to the trousers and shirt extension, inner flaps secured to the drop seat and tabs, means detachably connecting the tabs and flaps, and a belt connected to the drop seat.
2. A arment of the character set forth,
comprising trousers having a drop seat, a
shirt having a rear extension underlying the drop seat, tabs secured to and extending rearwardly from the side edges of the trousers and secured at their upper edges to the shirt extension, the rear side edges of the tabs inclined downwardly and outwardly, inner flaps secured to the side edges of the drop seat and havin their lower ends secured to the correspon ing ends of the tabs, means detachably connecting the flaps to the tabs, and a belt connected to the drop seat.
