IMPROVEMENT IN FEATHER-DUSTER SUPPORTERS.V
Specilieation'forming part of Letters Patent No. L7 3,519, dated February 15, 1876; application filed January 8, 1876.
To all whom it may concern l Be it known that L'JACOB UNNA, of San Francisco city and county, State of California, have invented a Supporter for Feather- Dusters; and I do hereby declare the follow- Ving description and accompanying drawings are sucient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertaius to make land use my said invention Without further invention or experiment.
My invention relates to a device to be applied to feather-dusters for the purpose vof preventing the outside feathers of' the duster `from spreiding and being broken when the duster is introduced between niture, or in small spaces.
When the outside feathers of feather-dust' articles .of furers are allowed to spread out in every direction, the appearance of the duster is spoiLed; it soon becomes ragged and broken, and its 4work as a duster is not properly accomplished. The device which I use to obviate this difficulty is represented in the accompanying drawing, which represents, at- Figure 1, a feather-duster with the protector applied, and at Fig. 2 the protector itself.
A is a band of leather, or other suitable material, which is large enough-to pass loosely around the feather-duster near its middle, and
l confine the outside feathers to their place without crowding them together. B is an indiarubber or other elastic band, which is small enough to clasp thehead ofthe dust-er tightly when drawn over it. These two bands I connect by means of stays or braces c c, two or more'of which may be used; I usually use two. This protector is applied to the duster as shown at Fig. 1. The elastic band clasps I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat- A feather-duster protector, consisting of the band A, elastic band B, and stays or braces c c, substantially as and forY the purpose described.
