This invention relates to an improved construction of case which may be employed for carrying cigarettes and other articles; and the object of this invention is to provide a pair of (lished body sections hinged together one having a partition spaced from its back to form a compartment for cigarettes and the other section being adapted to serve as a receptacle for toilet articles and the like.

A still further object of the invention is the forming of the end wall plate in one of the sections with hinge extensions to which a cap or lid may be pivoted to swing and engage the other section and lock the two in folded position.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a mirror plate on one section having hinged extensions and a flange plate on the other section also having cooperating hinge extensions by which the two body sections are hinged' together.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a resilient mirror backing plate for holding the mirror in position against its front plate.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described. and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

bers to cooperate with those on the mirror plate to form a hinge as shown in Figure 1.

Itis found in the practical construction of casings of this character of advantage to provide two body sections hinged together and one to be formed with a partition plate providing a compartment for cigarettes or the like open at one end so that the cigarettes may be readily accessible and to form the other section in dish shape whereby it is Well adapted for carrying toilet articles such as powder compacts, rouge compacts, lip sticks or other desired articles and further to provide a cup -shaped cap or lid hinged to the end of one section and adapted to swing over the corresponding end of the opposite section to close both and lock the two together; also to form this lid or cap in cup or dish shape so as to itself provide a carrier for other articles such as eyebrow pencil or other article; and the following is a detailed description of the present embodiment of my invention and` showing one means by which these advantageous results may be accomplished.

With reference to the drawings, 10 and 11 designate the two opposite body sections both of which are preferably formed dish-shaped. Section 10 is herein shown as being provided with a mirror, plate 12 secured to its edge and spaced from the front wall of this section to form a compartment for cigarettes or other articles, this plate having a central opening 13 through which a mirror 14 may be observed, the mirror 15, itself, being positioned back of this front plate and is preferably secured in position by means of a resilient backing plate 16 which is formed more or less channel shaped, its opposite edges 17 being turned downwardly so as to engage the edge walls 18 of its section to bind the mirror securely by spring pressure in position against the back of the front plate, this backing plate being preferably provided with spaced integral ears 19 formed on opposite edges thereof for engaging opposite edges of the mirror to centralize the same in its section. I

One edge of the -mirror plate is provided with a plurality of extending fingers 20 adapted to be rolled to form hinge eyes 21. The ,opposite section 11 is preferably provided about its edge with a iange plate 22 having an inwardly extending portion 23 projecting towards the rear of this section. This iiange plate is also shown as being provided with a plurality of hinge fingers 24 which may be rolled into hinge eyes to cooperate with eyes 21 of the mirror plate to receive a hinge pin 25 by which the two dish body sections may be operatively hinged together. The wall plate 26, on the end of this section `11 opposite the hinge is provided with outwardly extendinghinge lingers 27 adapted to be rolled into eye form as at 28, and on this edge of the section 11 I have hinged a dishshaped cap or lid 29, one edge of which is provided with hinge eyes 30 which cooperate with the hinge eyes 27 to receive the hinge pin 31 and by which this cap is operatively secured to this body section.

In order to secure these two sections 10 and 11 together by means of this cap or lid, I have formed a flange or liph32 Which extends above the edge 33 of the mirror carrying body section and is secured to the inner surface at the end of this section by solder or otherwise and oifset slightly inwardly from this inner surface whereby a slight projecting detent 34 on the inner edge of the lid may be snapped over a slight projection 35 onv the outer surface of this lip to secure the lid in closed position to retain the two body sections together so that in order to release this cap from the front wall of the mirror carrying body section it is necessary only to engage this front wall 36 to press and spring the same inwardly whereby the two detents 34 and 35 will be disconnected from each other so that the cap may be swung back permitting the sections to be opened up on their connecting hinge.

The device is extremely simple and practical in construction and is effective in its operation and by its use a combined cigarette and article carrier is provided and to the cap or lid a carrying chain 37 may be attached by any suitable means when desired.

The foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of rcsortingto all the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only bythe terms of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A case having two dished sections hinged together, one section having a partition plate spaced from the back thereof form ing a cigarette compartment therein open at one end, said partition plate having a central opening and a mirror of a size larger than saidopening and engaging the margins of the partition thereabout, and resilient means engaging the back of said mirror and said section to hold the mirror in position to be seen througi said opening.

2. vcase having two dished body sections hinged together at one end, one section having an end Wall plate, the outer edge pf said plate having integral extending hinge portions and a lid member hinged to said hinge portion to close over the outer endy of the other section to retain the two sections closed.

3. A case having two dished sections, a compartment forming plate with hinge extensions secured to one section, the other section having an edge flange plate secured thereto with hinge extensions cooperating with those on the plate of the other section to hinge the `two sections together.

4. A case having two dished sections hinged together-one having a mirror carrying partition plate with a central opening and spaced from the back of the section, a mirror of a size larger than said opening positioned back of the plate to show thru said opening anda mirror retaining back plate having raised portions to centralize the mirror, a resilient edge to engage the wall of the section to press the mirror against the margins of the parti- 'tion about said opening.
