This invention relates to a hair attaching comb therefor.

It is particularly aimed to provide such an article as is adapted for feminine wear to cover the bob.

An important object also is to provide a construction which will efiiciently secure and lock the article in the hair and especially in short or bobbed hair.

A further object is to provide a comb for the foregoing purpose, composed of superposed and united comb elements the outer one of which is spaced from the longitudinal edges of the inner one, and the inner one having holes above the outer comb member to accommodate stitching or the like, to secure a hair piece thereto, the arrangement generally enabling the comb to conform to the shape of the head and the hair piece to simulate the natural lay of the hair.

With the foregoing and additional objects such as will be pointed out or become apparent in the accompanying description, the invention has been embodied in one practical form as illustrated in accompanying drawings.

In said drawings Figure 1 is a plan view of a comb and attached hair piece constructed in accordance with my invention;

Referring specifically to the drawings, wherein like reference characters designate like or similar parts, 10 designates a main comb and 11 designates a lock comb. Said combs 10 and 11 are made of any desired material such as horn, celluloid, amber and the like, so as to have slight flexibility and as at tached to the hair, are relatively inner and outer. Said combs have top bars 12 and 13, respectively which are cemented, fused or in any other manner permanently connected together in unitary form.

The combsin plan, as in Figure 1, are generally slightly arcuate so as to conform to the shape of the head of the wearer, and comb 10 has generally parallel tines 14 and the comb 11 has sinuous lock tines 15, which are disposed in contact with the tines 14 and expiece and tend partly over the tines 14 and partly across 8 the spaces therebetween.

Comb 11 is narrower than and spaced from both the upper and lower edges of the comb 10 and bar 12 has openings 16 therethrough, usually in pairs with one pair adjacenteach end thereof.

Hair pieces 17, as shown in Figures 1 and 4, or a hair piece 18, as shown in Figure 2, may be secured to the comb unit as by means of stitching 19 passing through the openings or holes 16. The hair pieces 17 and 18 are of different shapes and are simply examples of the many shapes or forms with which the comb unit may be used.

Also the pieces 17 and 18 need not, necessarily, be of hair as they may be ribbons or other ornaments. The hair pieces 17 and 18 preferably have strips of fabric 20 secured thereto which accommodate and are engaged by the stitching 19. V

With a hair piece 17 or 18 attached by stitching 19 as shown in the drawing, the unitary combs 10 and 11 are engaged with the hair at the bob so as to arrange the hair piece over the bob. The short hair of the wearer, at the bob, is eifectively received between the tines 14 and 15 being well gripped and held by the lock tines 15 due to their special shape, to correspondingly securely fasten the hair piece in place. No bulk ensues from the stitching 19 as it is above the upper edge of the inner comb 11. Also since t mm is clearance or space above and below the outer comb, the hair piece above and below the outer comb may rest directly against the bar 13 and lower edges of the tines 14, enabling the de-- vice to fit intimately against the head, conform to the natural lay of the hair, and effectively be concealed.

Changes may be resorted to, provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.

Iclaim as my invention 1. An attaching comb of the class described, comprising a comb member provided with a bar and tines extending therefrom, a comb member having a bar superposed on the first mentioned bar and bodily and immovably fixed thereto, the second comb member having sinuous resilient lock tines superposed on and arranged in coacting relation with the first mentioned tines, the second mentioned member being outermost and spaced from the upper and lower edges of the first mentioned comb member, the first mentioned comb member having holes therethrough to enable attachment of a hair piece.

2. An attaching comb of the class described, comprising a comb member of flexiblc material provided With a bar and tines extending therefrom, a comb member of the same flexible material as that first mentioned having a bar superposed on the first mentioned bar and bodily and immovably fixed thereto, the second comb member having integral sinuous lock tines superposed-on and ar ranged in coacting relation with the first mentioned tines, the second mentioned member being outermost and spaced from the upper 15 and lower edges of the first mentioned comb member,,the first mentioned comb member the hair piece in place.
